And when it's time to bring your designs to life in the real-world, use the embedded furniture schedule and collaboration tools to make it easy to source and buy everything on your list. ## Public brand catalogs Our [**Public Catalog**](https://www.canoa.supply/products) is filled with tens of thousands of commercial-grade, sustainably-minded products with real pricing, up-to-date lead time information, and scaled 2D drawings that you can drag & drop into your mood board and layout. In short, our Products library makes product discovery and design easy. ## My catalog My Catalog is where you can create and manage your own catalog of product specifications and standards. My Catalog allows you to seamlessly import your product data; easily organize products into various Collections; create custom templates (we call these Kits!) for design and layouts, and more. Ensuring that you can design with the product standards that are important to you. ## Projects Dashboards are the interface to bring in projects to your designs, allowing you to focus on the management and scheduling part of the design process so that everyone is aware of a project's scope, progress and status. Within the Canvas, you can create a budget and ensure that it stays on track, create product lists and status reports to make sure milestones are met or track your embodied carbon. With Dashboards, you can easily organize and manage a project's scope of work - all in one place. ## # Navigating our Platform and Features Find fast, fun and super smart design tools that are easy to navigate with our navigation menu and Resources tab. ## How to Navigate throughout the App Easily navigate through our interface and find all of our main features in the pull-down menu at the right of our logo in the top toolbar whenever you are logged in. Inside this drop-down menu, you'll find your Canvas Dashboard, My Catalog, Public Catalogs, and your Account page. These icons correspond to the features available to you in your account tier. The features available to you will be activated. Features that are not available will be greyed out.

# Features The standard features available to all users whether you have an Individual, Pro, Unlimited, or Custom account.

## [**Canvas**](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas) Clicking on Canvas or the Canoa logo in the navigation bar will take you to your Canvas Dashboard. Each Dashboard is unique to the user and will feature your Canvas boards. You can search for a Canvas board using the search bar on the left. You can filter for the Canvas boards that you've created by clicking on **Created By Me,** or find the Canvas boards you've been shared by clicking on **Shared by My Team** and **Shared with Me**.

### What is Canvas? The Canvas is a browser-based design environment for interior designers to create data-rich furniture layouts, product furniture schedules, presentations and digital mood board. Coupled with our proprietary AI-recommendation engine for furniture and lighting products, **Canoa AI** provides recommendations generated from hundreds of millions of product combinations. Designers can quickly identify products from an image or search for new ones with prompts like ‘low carbon’’ and ‘in stock’ across millions of records, replacing a workflow that is entirely manual, error-prone, and typically takes weeks to accomplish.

## [Public Catalogs](https://www.canoa.supply/products) The Public Catalogs page is our +23k database of products, aka our Products library of over 100 Brands' data. You can **filter** by Second Life condition (such as Open Box, Like New, Used etc.) or filter further by Quickship, Price, Brand, and Category.

## [Account](https://www.canoa.supply/team) The Account page allows you to manage your subscription and plan, view your usage, edit your settings, and manage the users on your account. ### Account Settings: You'll find your account information when you click on the Pencil Icon. You can edit your Account Name, Legal Company Name, and add an email domain.

Prebuilt templates are available for you to copy and quick start your design process. No more blank Canvases! ## What are Templates? Templates are pre-made Canvases created as a jumping off point for your own design processes like mood boarding, space planning, and presenting. They are guides on how to organize your Canvas and feature Products from our library, inspiration images or renderings, a layout or floor plan, and designs by members of our community. So if you're looking for a [**Furniture Presentation Template**](https://www.canoa.supply/templates/furniture-presentation-template) or want to design like a Canoa influencer, working from Templates may just be the thing to get you started. ## Start a new Canvas from a Template: 1. Go to the **Canvas** tab on the drop down Navigation Menu in the upper left. 2. Click **`+ New Canvas`**, and a Create New window will pop up. 3. Choose **`Browse Templates`**, and pick one of eight Templates that works best for you. 4. This Canvas, created from a Template, is now yours. **Rename** your Canvas that is recognizable to you. No need to save anything - this Canvas will always be accessible to you whenever you open the Canvas tab.

## Bring a Template into an existing Canvas: There's no need to start from scratch. You can add Templates into your existing Canvases any time. 1. Open one of your Canvases. 2. Click on the `My Catalog icon` in the lower right corner of your Canvas. 3. Select `Templates` from the top of the pop up window. 4. Browse through the Templates and simply drag and drop one anywhere in your Canvas. {% hint style="info" %} A bunch of elements and Frames will appear now. Keep what you want and simply delete the rest by highlighting what you don't want! Once you've added a Template, all you need to do is full it in with your inspiration and products. {% endhint %}

### Types of Templates to start a Canvas with: * Product Specification (Brand Spotlight) * CAD Library * Concept Design * Design Development * Schematic Design * Space Planning * ROM Budget ## Using a Community Template: * Utilize one of our Community Templates when you want to design like a professional interior designer. * Go to our [**Templates**](https://www.canoa.supply/templates) page on our website, pick a Template, and click the **Launch Canvas** button. * *Quickly go to the Template page while you're signed into the app by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner of the navigation bar.*

* You'll be taken to the presentation template page, which features a description and details on the selected template. Click on **`Launch Canvas`** to open up the template Canvas. * Select all of the frames and **right-click Copy** (or `ctrl+C / cmd+C`) the frames. * Open up your own Canvas board and `ctrl+V / cmd+V` or right-click and select **Paste** to add the Template into your Canvas board. * Follow the step-by-step details to turn the template into your own presentation.

{% hint style="info" %} If you are unable to create a new Canvas from Templates, you may have reached your limit on the number of Canvases allowed to your account. View the Team Management page to adjust your plan's subscription. {% endhint %} {% content-ref url="/pages/im5mENHfYZ21Bg06DqWS" %} [How to organize your Canvas with Frames](/docs/design/how-to-organize-your-canvas-with-frames) {% endcontent-ref %} # Arranging your Canvas Dashboard This article will show you how to arrange your Canvas Dashboard by adding a thumbnail image and name. When a new Canvas is created, an arbitrary name is assigned automatically. So don't be surprised if your Canvas Dashboard has an "Elegant Penguin, "Sophisticated Architect" or "Sassy Peach" name in the upper left corner. As you create multiple Canvases, it will become important to have your dashboard arranged so you can easily identify and search for each Canvas. ## **Naming or Renaming a Canvas** ### From your Canvas Dashboard: In your Canvas dashboard, you can rename all of your Canvases. Hover on the Canvas, click on the three-dot menu and select **Rename.**

### **From inside a Canvas:** You can also edit your Canvas name by clicking on the Canvas name in the toolbar to activate the edit mode.

## **Filtering your Canvas boards in your Canvas Dashboard:** * In your Canvas Dashboard, you can search and filter for the Canvas boards that you've created by clicking on **Created By Me** or for the Canvas boards that you've been invited to by clicking on **Shared by My Team** and **All** **Shared with Me**.

## Setting a Thumbnail image: The thumbnail image of a Canvas defaults to the last image placed in your Canvas. But you can set a specific image to appear as the thumbnail image in your dashboard. The action **Set as Thumbnai**l is located in the **right-click menu** when in Canvas. * First, open your Canvas. * Select an image, vignette, text, etc. that you'd like as your thumbnail image. * Draw a **Frame** around your selection. * Right-click on your **Frame**, and select **Set as Thumbnail** from the menu.

Our toolbar provides lightweight design tools so you can edit images and personalize your presentation. Our **C**[**anoa Homework Template** ](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas/Vivacious-Grape-VyOq7dqdiW)can help you get started. ## **Designing with Canvas** ### **Define your design concept:** * Consider your design intent and the elements you'll need to convey your concept. * Gather inspiration images and resources. ### **Meet Canvas:** * Sign into Canoa and select `+ New Canvas` and select create a **Blank Canvas**, **Import Drawing**, or **Browse Templates**. * At the top is your toolbar, where you can access main functions quickly. * At the bottom right corner is the **`My Catalog`** icon, where you can browse your own individual product library, the public catalogs, and bring in products to your Canvas. * Every Canvas created is given an auto-generated name. Click on the name to personalize it.

## **Search thousands of products:** * You can search through our Public Catalogs by clicking on the Tag icon in the bottom right corner. * You can enter a query in the search or filer by Category (such as Accessories, Seating, or Tables), Manufacturer or Vendor (we have over 100 unique brands!), or refine your search further by filtering by Price, Lead Time, Condition, and Tags. * Double click into any product to see all the product details. * Drag & drop the product image into you Canvas. Or, select multiple products at once to bring them into the Canvas all together. * Play around with the different search, filter, views, and sort options to see what works for you. {% hint style="info" %} Want to just browse the 2D vector drawings of the products? Click on the Image icon (seen below) and toggle to Drawing. {% endhint %}

* Navigate to brand catalogs to find products by specific brands, or select View All Products to see all products in one view.

* After dragging a product onto the Canvas, our products allow you to toggle between three different views: * A scaled 2d vector drawing * The product image * The detailed product card * You can use whichever view you need. Need all three? Copy the image so you can space plan with the scaled drawing, create a rendering with the product image or use the detailed product card to show furniture specs.

* Want to see full product details? `Right click` on the product image and select **View Product Details** to open the product card.

## **Embrace the power of Canoa AI to help you design:** * Need help identifying a product from an inspiration image? Select the image or product to activate Canoa AI. Click on the `AI Recommendations` icon in the bottom left corner of the Canvas. * Shuffle through pages of AI recommendations and filter your search with the Filters button. * Drag and drop a recommended product into the Canvas to continue designing.

## **Duplicate, Delete, Rename:** * To duplicate a Canvas, hover on the preferred Canvas in the Dashboard, click on the `three-dot` menu and select **Duplicate**. * To delete a Canvas, hover on the preferred Canvas, click on the `three-dot` menu and select ***Delete**.* * In your Canvas dashboard, you can rename all of your Canvases. Hover on the Canvas, click on the `three-dot` menu and select **Rename.** You can also edit your Canvas name, by clicking on the Canvas title to activate the edit mode.

When you paste a URL into Canvas, it will automatically transform into a product with a visually pleasing card and be saved automatically into [**My Catalog**](https://www.canoa.supply/catalog). This workflow allows you to easily add and organize different types of content from across the web as products directly inside your Canvas, keeping your collections all in one place. Open the **Canvas** that you want to paste it into. 3. Click **`CRTL + V`** in Canvas directly where you want to paste your link. 4. The link will appear in a card view with an image, title, and hyperlink back to the original source. 5. Check the **`My Catalog`** icon in the bottom right corner to see your new product automatically saved.

{% hint style="info" %} Depending on the source of the link, different types of data will appear in the card once pasted into Canvas. Not all links from the web bring in images. {% endhint %} ## Functionality of a link in Canvas 1. Pasted links that bring in an image with the card view will automatically become products and saved to [**My Catalog**](https://www.canoa.supply/catalog) for Pro and Studio users.

2. For pasted links that do *not* bring in images to Canvas, you can still instantly create a product with the Save as Product icon. Here's how: 1. Simply, select the card and click the **`Save as Product`** icon. 2. The **Product side panel** will pop up on the right-side of your screen where you can check all of the data it saved from its source and easily add more data manually. 3. 3. You also have the ability to turn the card view into plain text if needed. 1. Simply, select the card and click the **`Display URL as Text`** icon. 4. Reference the original link of the card by clicking on the **`Hyperlink`** icon in the bottom left corner of the card. It will take you to the exact website URL you copied into your Canvas.

## Auto-Enrich your Product Data When adding in your products via URL copy paste to your Canvas, CanoaAI will automatically give them a subcategory and a color tag in addition to adding the product to your **My Catalog**. To check this, right-click and View Product Details. Scroll down to the data fields: Category and Tags. ## Collect links from all over the Internet This feature allows you to hyperlink almost anything in your Canvas and turn them into products. Not only can you paste URLs of your favorite furniture pieces from your favorite brands' websites, you can also paste links from e-commerce sites, news media and magazine outlets, bookmarking apps, and even that cooking recipe you've been inspired by lately. Navigate to your preferred image(s). 2. Highlight your image(s) or right-click on the image(s) and select **Copy Image** (or `cmd+C` or `ctrl+C`). 3. Navigate to your Canvas and `cmd+V` or `ctrl+V` or right-click and select **Paste.**

## Add an image from the toolbar:

1. Select the **`Import`** icon from the Canvas toolbar. 2. Your Finder or Documents Manager window will open up separately. 3. Choose a **.jpg or .png file**. Navigate to the folder location where your inspiration image is saved and select your preferred image. 4. Click **Open** to automatically place the image in your Canvas. Right-click and select **Copy as image** or **ctrl+shift+C / cmd+shift+C**. * Navigate to the tab or window of the Canvas you want to ***copy to.*** Right-click on the area of the Canvas you want to place your copied items and either select **Paste** or **ctrl+V / cmd+V**. * The entire Frame will be copied and act as one combined image. You will not be able to acces the individual images once the Miro Frame is copied into your Canvas.

Right-click and select **Copy as image** or **ctrl+shift+C / cmd+shift+C**. * Navigate to the tab or window of the Canvas you want to ***copy to.*** Right-click on the area of the Canvas you want to place your copied items and either select **Paste** or **ctrl+V / cmd+V**. * The images you selected will be copied and act as one combined image. You will not be able to acces the individual images once they are copied into your Canvas.

### Copying Text from Miro * Click on text that you'd like to copy. Right-click and select **Copy as image** or **ctrl+shift+C / cmd+shift+C**. * Navigate to the tab or window of the Canvas you want to ***copy to.*** Right-click on the area of the Canvas you want to place your copied items and either select **Paste** or **ctrl+V / cmd+V**. * The text you selected will be copied and act as an image. You will not be able to edit the text once it is copied into your Canvas. * NOTE: If you select Copy from Miro, then when you paste your text into Canvas, the text will convert to an editable text once it's pasted into Canvas. However, any formatting or font style from Miro won't be preserved.

This is an ideal workflow for when your design process calls to start designing with a file of a floor plan that you already have on your computer. Here's how: * In the Canvas Dashboard, simply click **`+ New Canvas`**. * Choose **Import Drawing**.

* You'll then be prompted to open your desired drawing file. The supported file types for drawings on Canoa are **DWG** and **DXF files**.

* With your file selected, click Open. You'll automatically be taken to a blank Canvas where you will see your drawing file being **processed** in the bottom left hand corner of your screen.

* When the file is done processing, click **Add to Canvas** in the bottom left hand corner and then choose where to place your drawing file. Click on a product, and the product details will appear on the side panel. 3. Click on **Start a Canvas** below the product image, and a new Canvas will launch automatically. 4. # How to add a Product from the Public Catalogs This article will show you how to easily add a product from our database and toggle between the various views available with products on Canoa. ## Add a Product to your Canvas: 1. Open an existing Canvas or create a New Canvas. 2. You can search through the Public Catalogs by clicking on the **My Catalog icon** in the bottom right corner of Canvas. 1. You can enter a query in the search or **Filter** by product Category (such as Accessories, Seating, or Tables), Condition, Buy Price, Lead Time, Manufacturer, Vendor (we have over 100 unique brands!), or Tags**.** Play around with the different search options to see what works for you. 3. You can then **Sort** your search by Price, Lead Time, Manufacturer, and Name. 4. **Double click** any product image in the search to see the full product details and all its data. {% hint style="info" %} **NOTE**: For those with a Pro, Studio, or Custom account, you can filter for your saved or custom/private products in **My Catalog**. {% endhint %}

6. **Drag & drop** the product into your Canvas. 7. To bring in more than one product at once, click the **checkboxes** in the upper left hand corners of each product. Once you have checked all the boxes, simply drag and drop the products onto your Canvas. 1. While you are dragging, a grey "ghost" of your products will hover above your Canvas. Drop them into the Canvas when you are ready to place them.

{% hint style="info" %} Want to browse all of the 2D vector drawings of the products? Click on the `Image` icon within the My Catalog sidebar and toggle to **`Drawing`**. {% endhint %} ## Select your Product view: Each product in the Public Catalogs has three different views available: a scaled 2D vector drawing, the product image and the detailed product card. When you place a product into your Canvas, you can easily toggle between these views. Need all three? Copy the image so you can space plan with the scaled drawing, create a rendering with the product image or use the detailed product card to show furniture specs.

* First, add a product from our **Catalog** database into your Canvas. The default view is the **Card view** with product data. But you can browse by **Drawing view** as well. * You can customize the data fields you see by clicking on the **Settings** (Gear) icon. * You can view all the data of the product by right clicking and choosing **View Product Details** (`cmd + I`). * Select the first icon for the scaled 2d vector product **Drawing** and the middle icon for the **product Image.**

## Customize the Product Card view: Want to hide some product data and only show a select few fields in the card view? No problem. Select the product card view, click the **`Settings` (Gear) icon**, and simply toggle on or off the data fields you want to show and hide on your Canvas. You can hide or show the image, drawing, manufacturer, name, size, price, condition, color, and URL source among many other data field types in the product card view. We want you to have full control and customizability in how you present information in your designs.

{% hint style="info" %} Currently, the customizable Card Settings are universal to the Canvas you are working in. Meaning, the settings you apply to one card, will apply to all the product cards on your Canvas at the same time. {% endhint %} ## Rotate the Product: You can rotate images and drawings of products anytime within Canvas. Rotating in any direction and angle keeps the original scale of the drawing accurate. 1. Click to **select** the drawing or image. 2. Hover your cursor over any **corner** of the selection. 3. A **curved arrow** will appear. 4. **Click and hold** as you **rotate** the drawing - the angled degrees will pop up as you rotate in either direction.

You can also select **View All Products** to open the complete product catalog and use search or filters to find single or multiple brands there.

{% hint style="info" %} **For Pro, Studio, and Custom users:** Find a product that you want to remember for later? Click on that product and select "**Save to My Catalog**." Now, you can reference the **My Catalog** feature in the left-side navigation bar for easy look up to use in your Canvases later. Consider these your favorites. {% endhint %}

## Search for products in Canvas: You can browse for products within a [**Canvas**](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas)**.** This really is a great way to start designing a digital mood board, creating a furniture schedule specification, and space plan with a floor plan.‍ 1. Go to the bottom right corner of the opened Canvas and click the **My Catalog icon**. 2. Search for products in the main search bar or with the **Filters** menu to narrow your search by Category, Condition, Buy Price, Lead Time, Manufacturer, Vendor, Tag, and Collection. 3. When you find a product you like, just **drag and drop** it into the Canvas. You can also select multiple products to then drag into the Canvas all together at once by clicking on the checkboxes of each product card (in the upper left corner).

Now you can view the product as purely an image; you can also remove the background to give it more of a layering effect; view just its 2D vector drawing; or you can view the product card with all its specifications by toggling through the three viewing options seen above. You can also **search** for products within your Canvas after they are placed in the Canvas. We know that mood boarding can get messy and all over the place - but that's part of the fun. Use the universal search keyboard shortcut, `Control + F`**,** to find what you're looking for. Clicking `Control + F` will search through product cards and text boxes that are in your Canvas. ## Discover products in Templates: {% content-ref url="/pages/V0vaB24NzVNGGvHYCuqO" %} [Begin with a Template](/docs/getting-started/begin-with-a-template) {% endcontent-ref %} # How to create Custom Products This article teaches you how to bring your own products into Canoa through images, URLs, and CSV files to create custom product cards that you can design and space plan with in your Canvas mood board. Even though we have extensive **Public Catalogs**, sometimes your design has a unique or custom product not found in our catalog. And, you'd like that product to have the same data-enriched characteristics so you can design, space plan and add to your furniture schedule just like those products in our database. We call this workflow '**Save as Product**'. And Canvas offers three easy ways to bring in the products you want to design with. ## **Option 1: Save As Product icon**

This Save As Product icon lives when you select any image.

1. Create a new **Canvas** or open an existing Canvas. 2. Find the **image** of the product you'd like to create a custom product card by drag and drop, uploading, or pasting the URL of the image into your Canvas. 3. Click the image and five icons will appear below it. 4. Select the **`Save As Product`** icon. 5. The **Product Card window** will open up on the right side of your Canvas so you can add details and data for your new product. {% hint style="info" %} **NOTE:** If the Product side panel window does not automatically open up, then hover over the image, right-click to open up the features menu and select `View Product Details`. {% endhint %} This powerful action can also be done in **bulk -** you can create custom products for multiple images at once. Place all the images you want to create into products into your Canvas. Then, highlight/select those images all at once. The **Save As Products** icon will appear below them. Simply click the icon and they will automatically become products!

After you click the Save As Products icon, you will want to enrich the product data for each of these three new products. One-by-one, right-click each product and choose **View Product Details** (`CMD + I`). The Product Side-Panel will pop up on the right side of your screen. Here is where you can enrich and add all the data you need for your new custom products. This action is also accessible within the **right-click menu** when you are in Canvas. ## **Option 2: Import a CSV file** Oftentimes we collect products in a form of a list. When that list of products is able to be exportable into a CSV file, you can then upload that same CSV file directly into Canvas. Now you can design with the furniture pieces from your CSV list in a more visually pleasing and data-enriched setting in Canvas. Here's how:

1. Create a new **Canvas** or open an existing Canvas. 2. Click the **`Import`** button in the top toolbar and select `Product List (.csv).` 3. Choose your **CSV file** that has the list of products you want to bring into Canvas. Click **Open**. 4. The **Import Products** window will pop up. Canvas will automatically match your data fields. * If the fields you are importing are not automatically selected and seen, you can manually match the fields by using the **dropdown arrows** within each field. * If you do not want to import a detected field, simply click the **X** to remove it from the import. 5. Click **Next**. This will launch a preview of how your data will look for each product in your file. * Use the **arrows** in the top right corner of this preview to toggle through your list of products from the CSV file to see how they will look like in Canvas. 6. Click **Import** and then click **Proceed** when you and your data is ready for Canvas. * A processing notification will appear in the top of your Canvas, letting you know the import is working. 7. Click **Add to Canvas** when your CSV file has processed completely. 8. The products will appear as gray blocks hovering with your cursor. Place the blocks wherever you would like in Canvas.

This is a great way to collect your favorites and add the necessary additional data into their product cards. If you want a **Pinterest** account, you can connect it to your Canoa account to easily bring your pins and boards into Canoa. You can easily and quickly draw a custom product - with one or multiple shapes - and continue to build that product by adding images and all necessary data. * Select the `Draw` tool, `Rectangle` tool, and `Circle` tool in the top Canvas toolbar. * Draw your shape for your custom product. * Select the shape or shapes that you want to turn into a product. * Click the `Save As Product` button just below the shape. * Add in details by `right-clicking` and selecting `View Product Details`.

You can continue to edit the product's drawing anytime. Select the drawing view of your product. Double-click into the drawing itself, and the Drawing Editor window will launch. Make any needed edits to your drawing here. Typical information would be Manufacturer, Product Name, Size, Material and List Price.

The information you input into the Product Card will appear when you select the Card view. {% hint style="info" %} The Card view is the third icon you can select when toggling between the different views for you product. {% endhint %} ### Customize your Product Card view: Want to hide some product data and only show a select few fields in the card view? Meaning, the settings you apply to one card, will apply to all the product cards on your Canvas at the same time. ## **Adding a Drawing** There are a couple of different options for you to add a drawing to your custom product. After you have **`Saved As Product`**, simply click on **`Add a Drawing`** to open the **Drawing Editor** window**.**

### **Freehand Drawing - for basic or simple shapes:** * Click on the **`Add a Drawing`** icon to open up the **Drawing Editor.** * Click **`Draw`** to launch the drawing tools. * Select one of the options in the bottom **Drawing toolbar** to draw a basic shape like a circle or ellipse, poly-line, or rectangle. * Adjust and recolor the **line weight** and **drawing fill** as needed.

When the drawing is selected, you will have the option to adjust the line style and weight, as well as the fill color and opacity

### **Import Drawing - for when you have a vector line drawing available:** * Click on the **Add a Drawing** icon in Canvas to open up the **Drawing Editor** window**.** * Click on the **Import** button at the top right of this window***.*** * Click to upload or drag & drop in your drawing file. **NOTE:** 2D, vector line / simpler drawings work best. * A notification will pop up on your screen if the upload was successful. * Select the drawing to adjust the scale as needed. * Adjust and recolor the **line weight** and **drawing fill** as needed (see above graphic).

### **Select a drawing from our drawing database - for when you want a detailed drawing that you can easily modify:** * Click on the **Add a Drawing icon** to open up the **Drawing Editor** window. #### **Option 1 - Browse through Drawing Database:**

* Use the global **Search** bar to input a general search through our drawing database. * For example, you can input something as vague as "Coffee Table" to search for all drawings of a coffee table. Or, you can input something more specific like the product name or manufacturer. * A filtered list of drawings will appear. Click on the drawing you like and that will import the drawing into the **Drawing Editor**. * Select the whole drawing to adjust the **scale**, **line weight** and **color** and **drawing fill** as needed (see above graphic).‍ #### **Option 2 - Filter through Drawing Database:** * Click on the **Filter icon** and the **Filter Menu** will pop-up in a separate window. * Click on the expand arrow to open the filtering options and select the categories you need to refine your search. * Click **Clear** to close the **Filter menu**. * A filtered list of drawings will appear. Click on the drawing you like and that will import the drawing into the **Drawing Editor**. * Select the whole drawing to adjust the **scale**, **line weight** and **color** and **drawing fill** as needed (see above graphic).

After adding your drawing, click on the **X** in the upper right-hand corner to close the **Drawing Editor** and return to your Canvas. ## **To open the Product Details of any image:** 1. Hover over the image and right-click to open up the **Product Side Panel.** 2. Select **View Product Details**. 3. The Product Side Panel window will upon up on the right side of your Canvas. {% hint style="info" %} ***NOTE***: You can only edit the details of a product that you have created. You cannot edit products that exist in the Public Catalogs database. {% endhint %}

# How to use Canoa AI Augment your workflow with Canoa AI to help you discover, collect, and design the right products for your design. ## About Canoa AI Canoa is constantly learning about products through images and text and vector drawings. These learnings allow it to continuously improve the quality of search and recommendations provided to any individual user. The Canoa AI combs through the extensive **Public Catalogs** feature and provides recommendations generated from hundreds of millions of product combinations. This is why the more users Canoa has in its community, the richer and higher quality search and discovery will be. The more designers that use our Canoa AI-assisted tools, the more intuitive the tools, and the more effective people can be. ## Using Canoa AI When you select an image on your Canvas, the Canoa AI function gets triggered. Click on the **AI Recommendation icon** in the bottom left corner of Canvas to activate the engine. Use the tabs **Similar** and **Pairs** to advance through additional suggestions. When you see an option you like, simply drag the image into your Canvas board.

## Canoa AI Recommendations for Products You can also use the Canoa AI icon to find alternate or additional product recommendations on the product from our **Public Catalogs.** Simply select the product in your Canvas, then click on the Canoa AI icon to view pages and pages of product recommendations. When you see an option you like, simply drag the product into your Canvas board.

## Controlling Canoa AI There are three helpful filters within the AI icon to help you find exactly what you want and need - `Similar, Pairs`, and `Filters`. Use the **Filters** button to assist with narrowing your AI search down by Catalog, Categories, Condition, Price, Lead Time, Manufacturer, Vendor, and various Tags. This will help you filter out products and inspiration images that do not fit your criteria. The filtering ability within our AI recommendation engine gives you better control so you can find exactly what you need. Here, you are able to look at suggestions that fit in your lead time requirements, that fit within your budget, or that come from a certain manufacturer. You can also decide if you want to see recommendations from within the **Public Catalogs** or just from your personal **My Catalog**. For example, I only want to look at Gently-Used sofas that are under $800 so I expand the Category, Condition, and Buy Price fields within the Filter menu. Canoa AI will then narrow down my search and only show me recommendations that fit my criteria.

Control the AI recs to filter exactly what you need

When you click on **Similar**, Canoa AI will recommend alike products to the one you have selected. For example, with a chair selected, you might see interchangeable chairs in different colors or finishes. When you click on **Pairs**, Canoa AI will recommend products that go well in a vignette with the product you have selected. For example, with a lounge chair selected, I may see a comparable side table, planter, sofa, or ottoman to go with my lounge chair that I'm hoping to build my design off of.

## Auto-Enrich your Product Data When adding in your products via URL copy paste to your Canvas, CanoaAI will automatically give them a subcategory and a color tag and add the product to your **My Catalog**. # Understanding and using Products This article will help you organize and manage product data efficiently, ensuring consistency and completeness for working with Canoa and uploading your data onto the platform. ## What is a product? A product in Canoa represents an item that can be used in your interior design projects. This could be furniture, decor, or any other element you want to include in your designs. Each product in your Catalog contains essential details such as name, description, manufacturer, and specifications that help in identifying and utilizing it effectively. A product in Canoa goes a bit further than a traditional PDF spec. On Canoa, products contain marketing images, CAD files, commercial data, certifications and more. A product here is logical entity that represents a particular product in the real world. ## Why are products important? Products are important because they are the building blocks for everything we do on Canoa. Any design made on Canoa is a combination of products put together with a particular objective in mind. Products drive the recommendation engine, your ability to schedule designs and your catalog. ## Canoa Product Schema The Canoa product schema, or data model, is a structured format for organizing product data to ensure consistency and completeness to be ready for uploading to Canoa. It includes various key fields listed below with descriptions and the necessary format required. ## Here are the supported fields in a product on Canoa:

# Navigating the Table view This article will teach you how to navigate the features of My Catalog. Table view is where you can bulk import, bulk edit, and bulk export your own set of products that you design with. Table view in My Catalog is where you import, maintain, and export products to and from your **Catalog**. If you are a brand or supplier, you will be able to publish your products (with the help of the Canoa team) to the public **Products** page for all users to discover. As an upgraded feature for all Pro, Studio, and Custom users, the **My Catalog** feature allows you to manage all of your products you have uploaded and imported into your Catalog. {% hint style="info" %} **Note**: Anything you add from the public [**Products**](https://www.canoa.supply/products) catalog will save to your [**My Catalog**](https://www.canoa.supply/catalog) **Gallery** view but not appear in **Table** view, as you do not have editing ability of public products. {% endhint %} ## **Finding My Catalog:** 1. When you log into your Canoa account, you'll be taken to your Canvas dashboard. 2. Find the top **Navigation menu**. Expand it by clicking on the drop down menu. 3. You'll find **My Catalog** here.

## **Main Features of the Table view:** * **Editable** product card - found by clicking on a product image. Update any of the info in the fields shown in the right side panel. * **Filters** Tool - to better search for your product * Create multiple **Views** and customize them - for multiple team members, product categories, etc.. * Easily organize products into **Collections** and **Kits** * **Importing** and **Exporting** of **CSV** files, allowing for easy bulk updates. * Bulk importing of **.dwg/.dxf** files within a CSV file * **Publishing** and **Un-Publishing** of products to the public Catalog if you are a Brand or a Supplier with the help of the Canoa team * **Sharing** of products between Accounts * **Archiving** of products to delete them from your Catalog

When you click a product image in the list shown, the right side panel pops out - an editable Product Card. Here is where you can edit any of the data fields per product.

The 'Filters' icon pops up a window where you can choose from a variety of categories to help search for your products.

The gear wheel circled in red will open up the View Settings. Here is where you can customize the order of fields by dragging and dropping the three dashes, and where you can choose the selection of fields per view by checking and unchecking.

Clicking on the three dots will expose the Importing and Exporting features that work with CSV files. Click the Restore feature if you accidentally Archive a product and want to bring it back!

The drop down button allows you to add products to a Kit or Collection. If you are a Brand, you'll also see Publish and Un-publish abilities here.

The Share button allows you to Share products to other Accounts and Archive (delete) products. Didn't mean to Archive? Don't worry, we have a Restore button within the three dots to bring that product back.

# How to import your product data This article will teach you how to import new product data from CSV files in My Catalog so you can design with products you want in your Canvas. {% embed url="" %} **Table view in My Catalog** is the tool used to import products as new releases drop or client projects with specific furniture specs are added to your workload. Here is where you can upload custom furniture pieces and any products you design with on a daily basis that are not already in Canoa's Public Catalogs. With this feature, you will be able to create, import, and maintain products to your Catalog. If you are a supplier, you will also be able to publish these new products to Canoa's Public Catalogs (with the help of the Canoa team) for all designers and users to discover. ### Types of data supported by Canoa:

This is a manual process to bring in your own product data. * Head to **My Catalog** in the navigation menu. * Click on the **Create Product** button on the upper right.

* You will be prompted to fill out the several fields of product information, add an image, and add a 2D drawing in order to create a new Product (as seen below). * For **Drawings**, either import existing 2D drawing DWG or DXF files with the **Import Drawing** button, or use Canoa's drawing tools at the bottom of the Canvas to easily draw your own. * If you are a supplier, fill out the required fields marked with a red asterisk to create a '**Complete**' product and be ready to '**Publish**' to all Canoa users on the Public Catalog. Ping the Canoa team when you're ready to publish.

After clicking 'Create Product,' this window allows you to add in the data, images, and drawing.

## **Option 2: Uploading a CSV file in Table view** This is the best way to bring in your product data quickly, in bulk, with one swift import. Prepare your list of product data in your favorite spreadsheet program and then export it to a CSV file in order to bring it back into Canoa. Here's a step-by-step how: 1. Click on the **My Catalog** icon in the navigation menu. Toggle to the **Table** tab. 2. In a separate window, choose to use **Excel**, **GoogleSheet**, **Airtable**, or any other spreadsheet program you prefer to add your new product data. 3. Refer to this Canoa provided GoogleSheet**:** [**Product Data Template** ](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jBbhwIQ2Jj5Z14_8MdPvxC8uDidg-GK8shcYdoMLFXs/edit#gid=245220932)(seen below) for the correct formatting of your data with the required fields. * If you are a supplier wanting to **Publish** to Canoa’s public Product Catalog, you will need to provide the data that is noted in **red** to create a **Complete** product, and then ping the Canoa team when you're ready to publish.

4. Add in your data for all the products you want to import. ***Tip: Each variation or SKU will need their own line.*** 5. Ideally, the format will be consistent to what is in the **Product Data Template** seen above ... capitalization, imperial sizing, punctuation, required fields, etc. ### **Here are tips for adding in images within a CSV file:** * If you are using a program such as **GoogleSheet** or **Excel**, you will need to copy and paste the **image URL address** into the **Images field** before downloading to a **CSV**. * If you want to bulk import **multiple images** for each product, simply copy and paste the image URL addresses into the Images field and separate them with a **comma** in the cell. No additional spaces are needed here. * If you are using **Airtable**, you may attach **jpegs or pngs** in the **Image field** before downloading to a CSV. {% hint style="info" %} We recommend using image files under **10mb** each for peak performance. {% endhint %} ## **Once your spreadsheet is complete, download it to a CSV file.** 1. Log back into **My Catalog - Table view**. 2. Click **Import** via the **three dots** in the upper right hand corner. And select your new/updated **CSV** file. 3. The **Import Products** window will pop up. Canoa will automatically match your data fields. * If the fields you are importing are not automatically selected and seen, you can manually match the fields by using the **dropdown arrows** within each field. * If you do not want to import a detected field, simply click the **X** to remove it from the import. 4. Click **Next**. This will launch a **preview** of how your data will look for each product you import into Canoa. * Use the **arrows** in the top right corner of this preview to toggle through your list of products from the CSV file. 5. Click **Import** and then click **Proceed** when you and your data are ready. * A processing notification will appear in the bottom right corner of your screen, letting you know the import is working. You will also receive a confirmation **email** once your import is complete. 6. Your products are now imported to My Catalog and have been assigned a unique Product ID for easy bulk editing at a late time. **Congrats!**‍

All the fields you want to include in your import must be selected and seen here. For example, here the Product Name will be created and the Description will not be created with these new product lines.

### **Some helpful tips to keep in mind:** * If you are not able to bulk import .dwg/.dxf drawing files, you should click into each product to add the drawing in at a later time. (*So designers have the most accurate 2D drawing to design to scale with*). * If you are a supplier, you may ping the Canoa team to **Publish** your ‘**Complete**’ products, which will now be searchable on Canoa’s public [**Product Catalog**](https://www.canoa.supply/products)**.** * As a supplier, you are responsible for maintaining accurate data you share with Canoa. We recommend that you update your Excel Spreadsheet or Airtable weekly or monthly - pinging the Canoa team when an update to your data has been made - email us @ . ## Here is how to check if the manufacturer or vendor already exists in the Canoa database, and how to check for the correct spelling: * Open up **Catalog Pro.** * Search brands by using the **Filter** tool -> **Manufacturer** and **Vendor.** * If your brand appears in the filtered search, then your products will import with the manufacturer or vendor you have included without a problem. * If your manufacturer or vendor does not appear, you will need to add in the next step.

## Follow these steps to troubleshoot the error message in the importing of your .CSV data file: 1. **Exit** the Import Products window. Click **Cancel**. 2. Click the **Create Product** button located in the upper-right corner of the **Catalog Pro** page. 3. You will then be taken to a window to populate the data fields of a new, unnamed product (seen below). 4. Scroll down to the **Manufacturer field** in the right-side panel. 5. Enter in the **name** of the manufacturer with the exact spelling and casing you would like to see on your product card. 6. The message "No manufacturers found." will show up. Click on the **+ Add button**. 7. Now do the same steps (4 through 6) for the **Vendor field** shown in the right-side panel for that same unnamed product. 8. Once complete, simply **exit** the new, unnamed product page and return to **Catalog Pro**. 9. **Refresh** your internet browser. 10. Click the **three dots**, choose **Import**, and upload your existing .CSV file. The error message should not pop up again, and your import should go smoothly into Catalog Pro.

With **My Catalog**, you will be able to maintain and update your existing products in your Canoa catalog whenever you need. ## ‍There are multiple ways to update your product data in Canoa - My Catalog & Canvas ### **The first way is working** **in the Table view in My Catalog**. We recommend working in this way if you are updating **less than 20** products. 1. Make sure you are working in your own **View** - in case someone else from your team is working in My Catalog at the same time. 2. Click on the individual product image in the list of products to show the **Product Side Panel**. You then can edit any of the fields in this right side panel, which will automatically save to your Catalog. 3. If your products are published to Canoa’s Public Catalogs or exist inside Canvases, your products will automatically be updated publicly, no additional steps are needed. 4. If you want to work on a specific group of products, for example, click on the **Filter** icon and then select the sofa category, for example (if you have multiple manufacturers you may filter through those or any other filter as well). This will bring up all of the sofas instead of sifting through the entire catalog of products.

### **The second way to edit product data** **is by working with a CSV** **file**. We recommend working in this way if you are making updates to **more than 20** products at one time. **First**, let's export your existing product data out from My Catalog and into a **CSV** file so we can utilize the **Product IDs** of your products. 1. Make sure you are working in your own **View** - in case someone else from your team is working in My Catalog at the same time. 2. **Select** all of the products you would like to bulk edit by checking the box to the right of the product name. You can use the **Filter tool** to narrow down the search. 3. Click on the **three dots** on the right and then select **Export**. You will then see a window pop up at the bottom of your screen to let you know that it's working on downloading the **CSV** file to your computer. (It may take a few seconds). 4. Open your **CSV** file in your preferred spreadsheet program, like **Excel, GoogleSheets, or Airtable**, and edit the desired fields you would like to update.

### **There are a few important things to note:** * You must always include the **Product ID** field in the **CSV** file to update existing products in My Catalog. This is how Canoa recognizes each product for bulk edits. If you do not include the Product ID for each line of data, a new product will be created and your existing product will not be updated. * You may delete all other fields that you are ***not*** updating from your **CSV** file. * In the spreadsheet program you are working in, export or download your new edits to a new **CSV** file.

### **Now, let's import the CSV file back into My Catalog in order to complete this bulk edit.** * While in My Catalog, click **Import** and select your **CSV** file. * Make sure the **Product ID field** and the fields you are updating are selected -> click **Import**. * ***Tip: If the formatting of your Field names do not match the*** [***Product Data Template***](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jBbhwIQ2Jj5Z14_8MdPvxC8uDidg-GK8shcYdoMLFXs/edit?usp=sharing)***, then you must manually select the Fields from the drop down menu in this view.*** * ***Tip:** You will accidentally create new products if you do **not** include the **Product ID** field in this bulk import to edit existing products. The **Product ID** is the most important factor when making edits to live data on Canoa.* * You will get a **notification** and an **email** once your Import is complete. * Your products are now updated in your private catalog and public catalog!

* The integration is one-way and not bidirectional. * The pins are imported into Canvas, automatically saved as products in My Catalog, and live on the Canvas. There is no automatic updating that happens from your Pinterest account directly into a Canvas. * To disconnect your Pinterest account, there is a `Log Out` button in the Pinterest modal on the top left of the pop out window. * When you log out of your Pinterest account, you can always log back in or into another Pinterest account. ### Step 2: Export Data * Select `Export`. * Select `Download CSV file` * The CSV should be saved to your downloads or folder of choice.

### Optional\* Step 3: Open a spreadsheet program to format your data * Open the exported CSV in Excel, GoogleSheets, Airtable or your preferred spreadsheet program to update fields to match Canoa’s format. * Refer to the [**Product Data Template**](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jBbhwIQ2Jj5Z14_8MdPvxC8uDidg-GK8shcYdoMLFXs/edit?gid=245220932#gid=245220932) for approved fields and update before importing into Canoa. ### Step 4: Launch Canoa to import your product data * Open a **Canvas** (shown below) or **Catalog Pro.** * Upload the CSV file into **Canvas** or **Catalog Pro**. * Match the fields in the CSV from **Material Bank** with the Canoa provided fields.

* Once imported, you will be prompted to add the product cards to **Canvas**. * The products will be automatically saved to your **Catalog** for use time and time again.

Open a **SIF** file in **Spec** 2. `Export` as a **CSV** * Export with **Combined Product Number** if available 3. Open [**CanoaGPT**](https://chatgpt.com/g/g-dkB2IDXQ3-canoagpt) 4. Ask **CanoaGPT** to create a **CSV** from the file, with a record for every **PN or Part Number** with all of the associated data fields. 5. `Import` your **CanoaGPT** formatted **CSV** into[ **Canvas**](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas) (for less than 100 products) or [**Catalog Pro**](https://www.canoa.supply/catalog-pro) (for 100 products or more) * Match the **CSV** fields with the Canoa formatted fields * \*Format your **CSV** before importing to save time matching fields. Refer to the article for step-by-step instructions. 6. Add Images and 2D drawings to your products to use in future projects and to collaborate with your team.

1. Open the **CSV** in Excel or GoogleSheets 2. `Save As` or `Download` a **XLS** extensions * Note: delete any lines that are above the column headers, unhide any columns, delete columns do not wish to import and delete other tabs that will not be used.

1. Open **Spec** 2. Click `File`>`Import`>`Microsoft Excel` 3. Assign columns from the Excel File list (first column) from the Spec list (second column) to create the list for import shown (third column) 1. Example: Match **SKU** in the Excel List to **Part Number** in the Spec List

1. When you are done matching all of your columns, click `Ok` 2. Congrats! You imported your Canoa products into **Spec**. # Design # How to create collages & vignettes for your presentations Learn how to use our all-in-one Canvas design tools to create compelling visual collages and product vignettes. Canoa makes creating your design presentations simple and straightforward. Easily create vignettes and collages all from one platform, using our lightweight design tools. ## Canvas Toolbar

At the top of your Canvas is the toolbar. This is where you can find the main design functions of the app, like drawing tools, text, measure and scale, and uploading drawing files and adding comments. ## Getting Started First, find and collect any inspiration images. You can save these images on your desktop, paste a URL to Pinterest board, or copy-paste them into you Canvas directly from a website or another Canvas. Then, start [**a New Canvas**](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas)**,** open an [**existing Canvas**](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas)**,** or start from one of our [**Templates**](/docs/getting-started/begin-with-a-template)**!** ## Creating a Collage or Vignette Our design features are the common tools you typically use when wanting to edit your images. Using a combination of these features will allow you to create compelling and professional looking collages and vignettes. ### Add Inspiration Images: Drag & drop, copy-paste, and upload inspiration images into your Canvas. Want to learn all the ways to add images to your Canvas? Read here: {% content-ref url="/spaces/oXL90G447T7Arsje35d9/pages/aNvsamuehepxPc89I8iO" %} [How to add an Inspiration Image](/docs/collect/how-to-add-an-inspiration-image) {% endcontent-ref %} {% hint style="info" %} We recommend using image files under **10mb** each for peak performance. {% endhint %} ### Resizing Images: To resize an image while maintaining its existing aspect ratio, simply select your image and hover over the corner until the arrow icon is activated. Then, while holding down on your left mouse key AND the **Shift** key, drag the image until you get a size that you like.

### Cropping Images: To crop an image, either double click the image or select the image and then select the **Crop icon** that appears below in the context toolbar to start cropping. Crop is also located in the right-click menu in Canvas.

The borders around your image will now become editable. Drag and drop those lines however you'd like to crop your image. When you are done cropping, simply click **Enter** on your keyboard.

Cropping, for now, only works on image based file types and product images from the Public Library. If you'd like to **undo** your crop, click **CTRL + Z**, or right-click and select Undo from the menu. You can always reset your crop to the original image size. ### Removing the Background from Images: Removing the background from an image allows you to clearly layer images which is critical for creating realistic product vignettes. You can remove the background from an image with two-clicks, rather than having to edit the image in another program.

To remove the background, select the image. Click on the **Appearance icon**, and then toggle on **Remove Background** button.

### Greyscale an Image: You can transform an image to **black and white** quickly and easily with the Greyscale toggle within the Appearance icon in Canvas. After you drop in the image you'd like to make black and white, select it, click the Appearance icon, and toggle Greyscale on.

This is a helpful tool when you want to apply a custom finish or color to products you are designing with. A best practice at Canoa is dropping in an image or a screenshot of the correct finish in the upper right corner of the product. Making the product grey eliminates confusion.

### Adding an Outline to Images: You can add a stroke to the border of any image. Select the image and choose the **Set Stroke Style** icon just below it. You'll have the option to create a solid, dashed, or dotted border, its thickness and color.

Select either to **Flip Image Vertically** or **Flip Image Horizontally** depending on the orientation you are looking for.

You can also [**rotate any image and drawing** ](https://help.canoa.supply/docs/collect/how-to-add-a-product-from-our-library#rotate-the-product)by hovering over the corners of your selection and clicking and dragging in either direction. ### Stretching or Shrinking Images: To stretch or shrink an image, or resize an image without maintaining its aspect ratio, simply select your image. Hover over the corner or edge until the arrow icon is activated. Then, while holding down your left mouse key, drag the image to shrink or stretch as desired.

If you distort the image too much and want to return to the original image, then right-click and select **Reset Transform** to bring the image back to its original state.

### Distorting Images: You can change the perspective of an image in Canvas - by warping, or distorting, the corners of your image. Select the image you want to distort. Click the **`Distort`** **icon** in the context menu just below your selection.

Then skew the image by dragging and dropping the **corners** to the position you want them in. This feature is great for manipulating the shape of images of fabrics and finishes to fit a certain vignette or elevation drawing. This tool can be used to create a variety of visual effects, such as skewing, stretching, or rotating an image in a non-uniform way, and to fit an image in a specific area. ### Layering Images: You can bring images forward or backward to layer them against each other. Select the image, right-click and select either **Bring to Front** or **Send to Back**.

### Using Automatic Snapping & Alignment: Our automatic snapping & alignment allows you to create structured or grid collages easily. Dragging the images allows you to easily see the distances between elements. You can also use your arrow keys to nudge images closer or further away.

### Distributing and Aligning Images: Located in the **right-click menu** while designing in Canvas, **Distribute Selection**, **Align Horizontal**, and **Align Vertical** are simple tools that allow you to make precise compositions to elements quickly and easily. * **Distribute equals spacing** - Space elements evenly apart from one another vertically or horizontally. * **Align equals moving** - Move elements to line up with one another to the left, center, or right. Make sure you have more than one element selected to use Align, and have more than two elements to use Distribute.

### Grouping Images: Grouping is a helpful tool when you are working with a lot of images, drawings, and product cards that need to work in tandem with each other. When you group together several objects, they will work as one group. You can then choose actions to apply to the group, saving time than selecting each object individually. 1. Select several items on your Canvas, like product cards, images, and text, by holding down the Shift key and clicking or dragging your cursor over the items. 2. Once your selection is complete, right-click it and click **Group Selection** (`CRTL + G`). 3. To **Ungroup selection,** simply right-click the Group and click Ungroup Selection from the menu (`Shift + CRTL + G`).

Grouping is a different action than using Frames. Frames allow you export your work to PDF, JPEG, or PNGs and help you organize your Canvas as if they are a page or slides of a presentation. Read more about **Frames** here: {% content-ref url="/pages/xoC0jc2bk5F4Gu4Im1Rl" %} [How to use Frames](/docs/design/how-to-use-frames) {% endcontent-ref %} # How to duplicate Images When laying out your floor plan or creating collage, you can easily duplicate images with one click. ## Duplicate Shortcut When you need to duplicate an image or 2D drawing, select the product, hold the **Alt** key and drag the image. This is a good option when working with a single image or product for space planning, collages or vignettes.

## Copy-Paste When you want to duplicate multiple items, then copy-paste is the better option. Select the product(s), **ctrl+C / cmd+C** or right-click and select **Copy**. Right click on the area of your Canvas that you'd like to insert your copied images and **ctrl+V / cmd+V** or right-click and select **Paste**. ## Canvas Toolbar * From your [**Canvas**](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas) dashboard, either select one of your Canvas boards or click on **+ New Canvas.** * At the top is your toolbar is where you can access main functions quickly. * Click on the **`Text`** icon and it will turn purple when activated.

## Adding Text to your Canvas * Click on the area of your Canvas where you'd like to place your text box. * A blank, purple text box will appear where you can input your text. * The text box grows according to how your text is justified.

## Text Options * The text options menu will appear below. To make changes to a narrowed selection of text, make sure to highlight (select) the text and then chose the options. * Available options include: * **Bold** * *Italic* * Underline * Bulleted List * Numbered List * Text Justification Types: Left-Aligned, Centered, Right-Aligned

* Text Color:

* Text Background Color:

Click the Paint Bucket to choose a background color. Click the Plus icon to chose a custom color.

* Text Size: * Choose from four set sizes: Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large. * Or, input a **custom** font size in the open text box. Literally input any number!

Click Text Size to edit and input a custom size.

* Fonts: * Choose from over 500 font types. Canoa hosts the Google Font catalog on Canvas. * Go to the far right font box, click it, and either type in the search or scroll through for the font you'd like to apply to your text.

Click Font type to choose from 200 fonts.

A purple activation box will appear around your text and the text options toolbar will pop up. You can use the Tab key and the space bar inside the text box for more formatting customizability. ## Resize the Text Box Your text box can be resized by hovering at either side of the text box and dragging the sides to the left and right. The minimum size of the text box will always fit the content.

Drag the sides of the text box itself to resize it.

## Rotating Text Your text box can be rotated. Please note that rotating the text box does not change the orientation of the text itself. * Click on your text and the purple activation box will appear around your text. * Hover at a corner of the text box until the rotate arrow appears. * Hold your left mouse key to rotate the text box. As you rotate, the rotation angle will appear to help guide you.

# How to add Custom Colors This article explains how to add colors throughout your Canvas mood board and design presentations to better show off your brand standards. You do have the freedom to add and use custom colors throughout [**Canvas**](https://help.canoa.supply/docs/design/www.canoa.supply/canvas). When you select Text, Shapes, Frames, and Areas, you will be given the option to **Set Fill Style** and **Set Stroke Style** with the icons that appear below the selected item. While Canvas offers a few standard color options, there are several ways to apply a custom color to these elements and their borders. * Fill = the area inside the border * Stroke = the border

## Set the Fill Style: 1. Select an item to add color to: **Text**, a **Frame**, a **Shape**, or an **Area**. 2. Click **Set Fill Style** to add color throughout the element. 3. You now have the following options when choosing a color here: 1. **Double click** into a color **swatch** to edit the color **gradient** and the **opacity** level. 2. Click the **Plus icon** in the color menu to launch the color gradient and opacity level. 3. Click the **Eyedropper icon** in the color menu to select a color from your Canvas. 4. Or, if you know your color code, manually type in a **HEX, RGBA, or HSLA** extension to apply your perfect color. 4. Click throughout the gradient window to choose your color. 5. Adjust the **opacity** of the color by sliding along the opacity bar in the color menu. 6. When you have found your perfect color, simply click outside of the color menu to exit. {% hint style="info" %} **Pro Tip:** If you are using Google **Chrome** as your web browser, you can use the Eyedropper tool to pick up colors from anywhere on your screen - including outside the browser window! {% endhint %}

## Set the Stroke Style: 1. To style the border of a **Frame**, a **Shape**, or an **Area**, select the element and click the **Set** **Stroke Style** icon just below it. 2. You have the same color options as above noted - Steps 3 through 6. 3. Chose the border style: **Solid line, Dashed, or Dotted**. 4. Chose the **thickness** of the border: a weight of 1 through 10. 5. Click outside the color menu to save and exit.

As a shortcut, you can type `P` to draw a straight polyline, `R` to draw rectangles or `E` to draw a circle.

{% hint style="info" %} A polyline is a straight line. Use polylines to draw custom shapes and accurate floor plans and layouts of your space! An ellipse is a circle or oval. Hold down the `Shift Key`to draw a perfect circle. {% endhint %} ## Drawing a Polyline * Select either **Polyline** from the toolbar or type **`P`** and click on the area of your Canvas where you want to start your polyline. * Holding down the `shift key` while drawing your polyline constrains the angle of the line you're creating and will allow you to draw a straight line in the direction you drag your cursor. * Clicking your left mouse key will create a connected anchor point * Click `Enter` to complete the polyline. * Click `ESC` to start your drawing over.

### Drawing a Precise Polyline * You can draw lines with precise dimensions in Canvas. With the Polyline tool activated, type in your desired **length** in any format (ft, in, cm, etc.) into the designated box at the bottom of your screen. * Click**`Enter`** to accept your inputs. * Now place the end point of that line segment to your liking, knowing that it is now dimensioned to your desired measurement. * Remember, if you want a straight line, hold down the `Shift` key. * A second polyline will automatically begin. To complete and exit your drawing, click **`Enter`**.

### Drawing a Freeform Custom Shape with Polylines * Select either **Polyline** from the toolbar or type **`P`** and click on the area of your Canvas where you want to start your polyline. * With each mouse click, an anchor point is placed. * To close your shape, click on your first anchor point. * When your drawing is complete, click `Enter`.

## Drawing a Rectangle * Select **Rectangle** from the toolbar or type **`R`** and click on the area of your Canvas where you'd like to place your shape. * Click once to start drawing your Rectangle. When you are done drawing, click a second time to complete your rectangle. ### Drawing Precise Rectangles: * You can draw and edit squares and rectangles to precise dimensions in Canvas. With the Rectangle tool activated, type in your desired **width** and **height** in any format into the designated box at the bottom of your screen. * Dimensions are automatically converted to **feet** and **inches**. * Use `Tab` to go between inputs, and `Tab` or **`Enter`** to accept your inputs.

You can also hold down `Shift` to maintain equal proportions of your rectangle. ## Drawing a Circle * Select **Circle** from the toolbar or type **`E`** and click on the area of your Canvas where you'd like to place your shape. * Hold the left mouse key and drag to create your ellipse, or circle. Holding the `shift` key while dragging will create a perfect circle. Let go of your mouse key when you're done. ### Drawing Precise Cirlces: * You can draw and edit circles to precise dimensions in Canvas. With the Circle tool activated, type in your desired **width** and **height** in any format into the designated box at the bottom of your screen. * Dimensions are automatically converted to **feet** and **inches**. * Use `Tab` to go between inputs, and `Tab` or `Enter` to accept your inputs.

## Resizing your Shape * Click on your shape and hover along the corners or edges until the shape arrows are activated. Hold down your left mouse key and drag to resize. * To resize with a fixed aspect ratio, hold down both your **`shift` key** and left mouse key and drag to resize. ## Formatting Shapes * There are formatting options available for your shapes. Left mouse click and then drag-select to select your line or click on your shape to select your shape. * When selected, the formatting icons will appear below your shape. You have the option to **set fill style** or **set stroke style**. * Fill = Inside the shape * Stroke = Border of the shape

# How to Import and Scale floor plans This is the only mood board tool that allows you to design and space plan with real products to scale, all within one web browser. Here is a step-by-step way to layout to scale and measure. {% embed url="" %} The Canvas is a 1:1 scaled design environment. When you're designing on Canvas you're doing so at full scale - the distance between each dot on the Canvas is one foot (12 inches). This is the only mood board tool that allows you to design and space plan with real products to scale, all within one web browser. Here is a step-by-step way how to utilize the **Scale Tool** and **Measure Tool**, which will help you confidently design a furniture layout to scale. ## Import a Floor Plan by uploading DWG or DXF files: This is how you can upload a drawing file (from AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, etc..) into Canvas:

1. Save your floor plan as a **.dwg, .dxf, .jpeg, or .png.** {% hint style="info" %} We recommend that your drawing file is under 15 MB for peak performance in Canvas. {% endhint %} 1. For .jpeg and .png, you can either **drag and drop** your floor plan from your computer into your Canvas or click the **Import** icon. 2. For .dwg and .dxf, click the **Import** icon in the Canvas Toolbar. 3. Do **not** exit out of the Canvas while your file is processing. 4. Once the file is ready, click **Add to Canvas** and **place** your floor plan wherever you would like. * Canoa automatically detects the original scale of the drawing. We recommend that you check the scale by using the **Measure** tool. * If the scale is off, use the **Scale Floor Plan** tool to set your dimensions. * Watch this video to see a step-by-step guide: {% embed url="" %} ## Using the Scale tool: * There are three ways to access the Scale tool: 1. Click on the **Scale Floor Plan** icon in the top **toolbar** in a Canvas. You will then be prompted to select an image to scale. 2. Select your floor plan image, **right-click** and select **Scale Precisely** from the right-click menu. 3. Select your floor plan image, and you’ll see two icons below the image. The first icon will allow you to **Scale** your image.

The **Scale Tool** is located in the right-click menu: Scale Precisely.

The **Scale Tool** can be found when you click on your image: Scale Object.

* You’ll be prompted to select your first **reference point**. The floor plan shown above has a couple of known dimensions called out. * Click on the image to set your first reference point and then click again to select the second reference point along the dimension call out. * Input the scaled length in the prompted **text box** shown below the floor plan. The floor plan image will automatically scale to that dimension once you enter in the scaled length.

The first and second reference points are circled in purple. The known-scaled dimensions are then manually inputed into the text box below the floor plan.

{% hint style="info" %} **PRO TIP:** If you’re working with a floor plan that doesn’t have any dimensions called out, then we recommend using a standard doorway as your reference and set the scale to three feet and zero inches. Again, then your entire floor plan will automatically scale to size. {% endhint %} ## Using the Appearance Tool: The second icon that appears when you select your image is the **Appearance tool,** which controls the opacity of your image and the ability to remove the background.

## ‍Locking & Unlocking: Remember to **Lock** your floor plan by right-clicking on the image and selecting **Lock Selection**. When an image is locked, the selection window will turn to gray. If you need to adjust or rotate your image, unlock the selection, and the selection window will turn to purple. ‍

# How to Use the Walls Tool Draw and customize walls directly on your Canvas to create accurate space layouts for your design projects. ### Overview The Walls tool allows you to create architectural elements directly on your Canvas. Unlike importing floor plans, the Walls tool gives you the flexibility to draw walls from scratch, modify their properties, and create accurate spatial layouts for product placement. Walls intelligently join at intersections, making it easy to create clean, professional floor plans. ### Accessing the Walls Tool 1. Open your Canvas project 2. Find the Walls icon in the left toolbar 3. Click the Walls icon to activate the tool

### Drawing Walls 1. With the Walls tool activated, click on the Canvas where you want to start your wall 2. Move your cursor and click again to create wall segments 3. Continue clicking to add more segments as needed 4. Double-click or press Enter to complete your wall

#### Wall Intersections Walls automatically join at intersections, creating clean corners and connections. When a new wall intersects with an existing wall: * The walls will intelligently merge at the intersection point * Corner joints will be created automatically * You can continue drawing from any intersection point

### Customizing Wall Properties After drawing walls, you can customize their properties to match your design requirements: #### Adjusting Wall Thickness 1. Select the wall by clicking on it 2. Find the contextual toolbar under the wall 3. Click on the width dimension 4. Select new dimension from list, or add custom thickness

#### Changing Wall Fill 1. Select the wall you want to customize 2. In the contextual toolbar under the wall selection, click on the fill button 3. Choose from default color palette or click “+” to create and save a new color 4. Adjust opacity as needed in color picker 5. User eyedropper tool to create a color from another color on the canvas

#### Changing Wall Stroke and Style 6. Select the wall you want to customize 7. In the contextual toolbar under the wall selection, click on the ‘stroke style’ button 8. Select stroke style: solid, dashed, or dotted 9. Adjust width with slider 10. Select color from palette, or create a new color with “+” or eyedropper tool

### Editing Existing Walls #### Moving Walls 1. Select the wall or wall group that you want to move 2. Drag the entire wall to a new position 3. Use the arrow keys for precise adjustments #### Resizing and Extending Walls 1. Select the wall 2. Click the selected wall(s) again to activate control points 3. Grab any endpoint (indicated by control points) 4. Drag to extend or shorten the wall

# How to draw an Area This article will show you how to use Areas to organize your Canvas, making Product Lists and Dashboards more detailed. Areas are a great way to draw zones that break down your floor plan. ## What are Areas? You've used Canvas to create visuals like collages and vignettes, lay out your floor plans to scale, and even put together a furniture specification presentation and product list. Now, with the addition of **Areas**, you can start to break down your floor plan with smart areas that capture programming, square footage, and make your existing Product Lists more detailed and searchable. Within Canvas, Areas are containers in which you group spaces with the furniture that is placed inside them. For example, you can have Areas for different room types - like, Conference, Lobby, Cafe, Library, and so on. Drawing Areas are helpful to overlay on top of your floor plan to better organize a floor plan or presentation. Canoa's Areas are smart; meaning, when you click into them, they provide dynamic metrics of that grouped space. Areas can also be filtered in Dashboards and Product Lists that live on the Canvas, making them more narrowed down and no longer capturing the entire Canvas. ### Why use Areas? * Define areas of your floor plan with a rectangle or with a custom shape, creating zones * Ability to merge Areas for Dashboards and Product Lists * Name the Area for better organization * When Areas have the same name, they will merge together into the same Product List * Define fill color and opacity and outline styling * Areas calculate dynamic metrics for you, like: * Square footage * Plannable area sf within a Dashboard or project * Cost per sf * Search products included in the Area * Create a pre-filtered Product List from an Area * Create a pre-filtered Dashboard from an Area ## Areas on the Canvas Toolbar:

1. From your [**Canvas**](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas) dashboard, select one of your Canvas boards or create a new one. 2. In the top **toolbar**, you'll find the **`Draw Area`** icon, and it will turn purple when activated. 3. When you have the Draw Area tool selected, you will be prompted with two choices: * Draw a rectangle or a custom shape **-** Choose one and start drawing.

## Creating an Area: 1. Click on the **Draw** **Area** icon or type **`A`** and the icon will turn purple when activated. 1. Choose to draw either a rectangular Area or a more custom shaped Area with polylines. 2. Draw an **Area** around the items that you'd like to group together. 3. When the **Area** feature is active, you will continue creating Areas. Hit **`ESC`** to exit from creating Areas.

## Naming your Area: Naming your Area is helpful when organizing your Canvas and floor plan. Having a *unique* name for each Area helps you identify the Areas when filtering them within Product Lists and Dashboards. Contrarily, when Areas have the *same* name, they will merge together automatically when filtered into the same Product List or Dashboard - showing the overall budget for that merged Area type. 1. Click on your selected Area that you just drew and placed on your Canvas. 2. The **Edit area** / **Pencil icon** will appear below the Area when selected. Click the Pencil Icon to open up a right-side panel to add the name of the Area. * You can also **double-click** the selected Area, and the right-side panel will automatically pop open. {% hint style="info" %} The Area name will only appear when the Area is activated (clicked on). The Area will appear gray if you do not choose a fill color for it. {% endhint %} ### Helpful Naming Tips: * If you have multiple spaces or rooms of the same type on your floor plan or in your presentation, give the Area the exact same name for each type. * For example, I will design three conferences rooms that all fall under the same budget. So I will name their Areas "Conference 1C". This way, my furniture schedule will be easily filterable by conference rooms and show the bundled metrics all together.

Click on the Pencil icon to name the Area.

## Customizing the Style of your Area:. When you click on the Area you just drew and placed on your Canvas, four icons appear below the Area: **Set fill style**, **Set stroke style**, **Edit area,** and Export Selection. An Area will be given a default color of gray if you do not choose a fill color. * **Set fill style / Circle icon** = Choose the **fill color** and the **opacity** level of the Area * **Set stroke style / Dash icon** = Choose a **solid** line, **dashed** line, or **dotted** line, and then choose the **thickness** and the **color** of the line that will be the **border** of your Area * **Edit area / Pencil icon** = Opens the side-panel to add a **name, view the metrics,** and **search** within the Area

## Searching within Areas: 1. Click the Area you'd like to search within, and click the **Pencil** Icon to initiate the right-side panel. (You can also **double-click** the Area). 2. Type in the name of the product you are looking for in the **Search Bar** within the **Area side-panel**. * The dynamic metrics will auto-populate. {% hint style="info" %} Pro Tip: Choose to include **Areas** in the **Column Settings** of a **Product List**. This way, when you **export** the schedule to a CSV file, Areas will be included as a data column that you can sort by in your next spreadsheet program. {% endhint %} # How to Use the Markup Tool Annotate your Canvas with freehand drawings, highlights, and visual comments to communicate design ideas effectively. ## Overview The Markup Tool allows you to draw freehand on your Canvas, making it easy to highlight elements, create visual annotations, and add emphasis to your design presentations. Use this tool to communicate ideas clearly with clients and team members through visual cues and callouts. ### Accessing the Markup Tool 1. Open your Canvas project 2. Locate the Markup icon in the top toolbar; the icon appears as a wavy/squiggly line in the main toolbar at the top of the screen 3. **Single-click** the icon to activate the Markup Tool for a single use (tool will deactivate after one markup) 4. **Double-click** the icon to activate the Markup Tool in persistent mode (tool stays active for multiple markups) 5. When activated, a tooltip will appear showing "Markup" and the keyboard shortcut "M" 6. The Markup Tool options panel will then appear, showing thickness controls and color options

### Creating Markups Once the Markup Tool is activated: 1. Click and hold anywhere on the Canvas 2. Drag your cursor to draw freehand lines 3. Release to complete the line 4. Your markup will appear in the color and thickness you selected **Note**: By default, the Markup Tool will deactivate after drawing one line, returning you to the Selection Tool. To make the tool persist for multiple markups, double-click the Markup Tool icon instead of single-clicking it.

### Editing Existing Markups #### Selecting a Markup 1. Click on the Selection Tool (arrow icon) in the toolbar 2. Click on any markup to select it 3. Selection handles will appear around the markup #### Selecting Colors 1. Select your markup on the canvas 2. Click the line icon in the markup toolbar 3. Choose from the grid of preset colors 4. For custom colors, click the color picker icon to access the advanced color selector 5. The advanced color picker offers: * A color spectrum for visual selection * Hue and opacity sliders * A HEX code field for precise color input (#FB1919 in the example) 6. Your selected color will be highlighted with a purple border in the preset grid

#### Adjusting Line Thickness 1. Select your markup on the canvas 2. Click the line icon in the markup toolbar 3. Drag the purple slider dot left for thinner lines or right for thicker lines 4. Whether you're creating floor plans, furniture layouts, or space planning diagrams, the Dimension Tool helps communicate critical size information for your projects. ### Accessing the Dimension Tool 1. Open your Canvas project 2. Locate the Dimension Tool icon (ruler symbol) in the top toolbar 3. Click the icon to activate the Dimension Tool

### Creating Basic Dimensions When the Dimension Tool is active: 1. Click on your starting point 2. Move your cursor to the ending point (the tool will snap to key points on your canvas) 3. Click again to place the endpoint and create the dimension line 4. Drag the dimension to set length of extension lines and position dimension text The measurement will automatically display in the current measurement units (feet and inches by default).

### Understanding Dimension Elements Each dimension consists of: * **Dimension Line**: The line that represents the measured distance * **Extension Lines**: Lines at each end that extend perpendicular from the measured points * **Extension Point:** Point at center of Dimension Line (when selected) to adjust extension distance * **Dimension Text**: Numerical value showing the precise distance * **Control Points**: When dimension is selected, small purple points to adjust measured distance

### Editing Dimensions #### Moving Dimension Lines 1. Select the dimension by clicking on it 2. Drag the central control point to adjust the position of the dimension line 3. The measurement will remain accurate while the line moves parallel to the measured distance #### Adjusting Endpoints 1. Select the dimension by clicking on it once 2. Click on the dimension a second time to activate the endpoint control points 3. Drag either end control point to change the measurement's start or end point 4. The measurement value will update in real-time to reflect the new distance

### Dimension Properties and Options After creating a dimension, you can customize its appearance and behavior: #### Text Size Options Access text size options from the bottom toolbar when a dimension is selected: * **Small**: Compact text size for tight spaces * **Medium**: Standard text size (default) * **Large**: Enhanced text visibility for presentations * **Extra Large**: Maximum text visibility * **Custom Size**: Enter specific text size (in points) These options control only the size of the measurement text, not the dimension lines themselves.

1. From your [**Canvas**](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas) dashboard, either select one of your Canvas boards. 2. At the top is your toolbar is where you can access main functions quickly. 3. The **Frame** icon will turn white when activated. ## Why use Frames? A Frame allows you to group objects together and gives you the option to export your work out of Canoa. Rather than having to select individual images, placing a Frame around them allows you to easily select, move, and export these elements as a group. Frames are also compared to as being like "presentation slides" within Canvas because of their organizational value. ## Creating a Frame: 1. Click on the **Frame** icon or type **F** and the icon will turn purple when activated. 2. Create a Frame around the items that you'd like to export or print. 3. When the **Frame** feature is active, you will continue creating frames. Hit **ESC** to exit from creating frames. 4. You can **set the ratio** of your Frame to match the shape of common presentation or paper sizes and use that as a guide to layout or organize your Frame. 5. You can select either **Landscape** or **Portrait** orientation.

## Naming your Frame: Every time a Frame is created on the Canvas, it will be automatically numbered according to the order it was created in. For example, Frame 0, Frame 1, Frame 2, etc.. You can always rename your Frames. Naming your Frame is helpful when organizing your Canvas or exporting your Frame. Since a Frame is currently exported one at a time, having a unique name for each Frame helps you identify the Frames as you export them. 1. Click on your selected Frame, and then double-click on the **Frame textbox** at the top left of your frame box. 2. Input a new name or title for your Frame. Here are some helpful naming tips: * If you're planning on combining your exported Frames into a book or presentation, then you may find it helpful to name your Frame "Presentation Name Page 1"; "Presentation Name Page 2", etc. * If you're planning on adding the visuals, floor plans, or schedules into a presentation template that you have, then you may find it helpful to name your Frame by the image or item name such as "Collage" or "Floor Plan" or "Furniture Schedule" etc.

## Styling your Frame: By default, all Frames have a white background to start. You then can select a **background color** and set the **opacity** level of that fill color by clicking the **Set Fill Style** icon at the bottom of the Frame when it is selected.

You can also select a **border style** by clicking **Set Stroke Style** icon at the bottom of the Frame when it is selected. Choose between a Solid Line, Dashed Line, or Dotted Line and toggle its level of thickness.

## Copying & Deleting a Frame: To **delete** your frame, simply select the Frame (name or border) and hit the `delete` key on your keyboard. Deleting the Frame will delete the content within the Frame. The elements inside your Frame are linked to the Frame itself. This means when you **copy** a Frame, all of its contents will be copied as well. If you want to delete only the Frame and *not* the elements inside of it, select the Frame, right-click and select **Ungroup**. The Frame will disappear and the contents will remain on your Canvas.

## Organizing your Canvas: Frames can help you organize your Canvas. Frames will automatically be named in the order they are created on the Canvas. You can use Frames to define areas of your Canvas for designing and presenting, to develop layouts to export as images or PDFs, or to create presentation standards that you can turn into a digital look-book or catalog to easily share product specifications or project details. The frame has a rendered view, products, furniture layout, and architectural finishes layout. Work with real furniture specifications from your Canvas mood board and create and download furniture schedules at any time during your design process. ## **Adding a Product List to your Canvas:** 1. ## How to Customize your Product List: * Click the **Gear** icon on the List to edit the **Settings** of your Product List. * **Name** your Product List. * Choose the **data fields** you would like to show on your Canvas. * Toggle the Subtotal price on or off for your list. * **Order** the data fields to your liking by clicking the **three dashed lines** and moving the fields up and down the Settings panel. * To save these settings, simply click outside of the side panel. {% hint style="info" %} Pro Tip: Choose to include **Areas** in the **Column Settings** of the list. This way, when you **export** the list to a CSV file, Areas will be included as a data column that you can sort by in your next spreadsheet program. {% endhint %}

Access the Settings of your Product List by clicking the Gear icon on the list.

* **Resize** the Product List as wide or tall or short and narrow as you would like by clicking on the **corners** or **edges** of the schedule and **drag**. * You can also **resize** the width of your data columns inside of the list by zooming in and grabbing the edge of the column and dragging right or left. * **Sort** your columns by ascending or descending order by clicking on the **arrows**.

Stretch the Product List and resize the width of the columns. Use the arrows to Sort.

## The Benefits of Using Product Lists: * Use the **Search Bar** within the list to find a product quickly. * Use the **Filters** button to filter and show only specific categories of product. * Filter by Areas, Category, Condition, Lead Time, Manufacturer, Vendor, and Tags. * You can also filter by toggling between the **three icon views** - product drawings, product images, and product cards. * **Confirm counts** by filtering product and checking the **Quantity** column. This is great for validating space plans. * To **download** the list to a .CSV file, **select** the list and click **Export Selection icon** at the bottom. In the format window, **choose CSV** as the format in the drop down menu. Select the **data fields** you wish to be included, and click download. A CSV file will be sent to your email within seconds. You can take that .CSV file and bring it into Excel, GoogleSheets, Airtable, or any spreadsheet program that you use.

## Creating Budgets with Product Lists: The best way to create budgets within Canvas is with the use of **Dashboards**. When you add a Dashboard (also known as project) to your Canvas, you are only now able to add in custom pricing per line item in your Product List. With Dashboards, you have full control of **Discounts** and **Markups**. You then can decide whether to show or hide these data fields in addition to **List Price**, **Sell Price**, **Net Price**, and **Net Discount** fields. This is a great feature to create quick ROM budgets when presenting to clients. You can find all of the product details by right-clicking on a product and selecting **View Product Details**. A Side Panel will open up showing all of the product's associated live data.‍ If you scroll down through the Side Panel, you'll see other categories like Kits, Recommended, and Similar Products. **What is Recommended?** The Recommended category shows additional products that may work with the product you have selected. For example, if you have selected a chair, Recommended may show you a side table and a rug that both go well with this chair. Recommended will help you easily find alternates to create additional design options. ‍ **What is Similar Products?** Similar Products show the same category of product as the one you have selected. For example, you selected a lounge chair, and Similar Products will show different fabric options available for this chair or other lounge chairs that have a similar overall design. You can easily drag and drop different options into your Canvas to see how they look. We hope this Side Panel feature within Canvas helps save you time as you create mood boards, design options, and furniture specification alternates for all your interior design projects. # How to adjust your Product Card view This article will show you how to adjust the settings of you product card to create a customized view of specifications. Each product in our library has three different views available: a scaled 2D vector drawing, the product image and the detailed product card. When you place a product into your Canvas, you can easily toggle between these views.

## Adjusting your Product Card View: * You can easily adjust what details and data are shown in the product's Card view. To adjust the settings, click on the **Settings** (or gear icon). {% hint style="info" %} **NOTE:** The **Settings** icon will only be visible when you toggle to the product's Card view. {% endhint %}

* You can select which data fields you want displayed and hidden on the Card view. * Drag any of the Secondary settings to move up and down in order shown on the Card. As you select or remove settings, the size of the Card will automatically adjust. {% hint style="info" %} Adjusting the settings on a product card is a global setting and will impact the product card view for all products on your Canvas. {% endhint %} This is a great option if you want to hide details, such as the image, pricing, manufacturer, or SKU, or show specific details such as lead time or materials.

# How to use Dashboards Add Dashboard (project) information and metrics to your Canvas to better manage, track, and present furniture schedules, budgets, and milestone dates to your clients and teammates. ## Track Projects with Budgets and Timelines Designs don't just happen in a vacuum. Our industry organizes itself around projects that have a specific goal, budget and timeframes. With Dashboards, you can track all of your specifications with real quantities against your project budget. Track your embodied carbon. Track your procurement progress. All in one place inside the Canvas. ### What you can do: 1. Set an overall budget of per square foot 2. Set a discount and markup percentage for the overall Dashboard (project) or per manufacturer/vendor 3. Track your actual costs against your budget 4. Set a project address 5. Set project milestones and track against them

# Creating a Dashboard This article will walk you through the steps of how to create a Dashboard within Canvas, taking your mood board to specification and better managing furniture schedules, budgets, and milestone dates. ## What are Dashboards? Dashboards, also known as projects, allow you to focus on the management and scheduling part of the design process so that everyone is aware of a project's scope, progress and status. You can create a budget, Product List (furniture schedule), and mark milestones all in one place within the Canvas to make sure your project stays on track. **Adding a Dashboard** within your Canvas also allows you to track your embodied carbon. With Dashboards, you can easily organize and manage a project's scope of work - all in one place. ### Why use Dashboards? Add a Dashboard into your Canvas in order to capture and easily present the following information: * The Project's Name * Furniture Specification (Product Lists) * Lists are customizable and filterable * Address information with a live Google Maps view of your project's location * Gross Area sq ft * Plannable Area sq ft * Total Budget - with a Discount percentage and a Markup percentage * You can edit pricing per item by adding in custom discounting and a markup to show net discounting * You can decide to show or hide the project subtotal price * Carbon Estimate * The percentage of second-life items you are designing with * Cost per Square Foot * Milestone Dates in a timeline format ## How to add a Dashboard: On the toolbar, click **`Add a Dashboard`** to then place one inside the **Canvas** you are working on. The Dashboard reads the entire Canvas initially, but don't worry - you are able to filter and manipulate what you want it to read.

1. Open or create a **Canvas**. 2. Start designing with **Products** library to [**create a collage or vignette**](/docs/design/how-to-create-collages-and-vignettes-for-your-presentations) for a new project or client. (A.k.a. put some furniture into your Canvas for the Dashboard to capture and showcase). 3. Reference the top **Toolbar**, and click **Add a Dashboard.** 4. A grey rectangle will hover with your cursor. Place your Dashboard in your Canvas wherever you would like it to live. You can always move your Dashboard around the Canvas at a later time.

When you first drop in a Dashboard into your Canvas, it will read every product in your Canvas.

## What do to with your Dashboard: Now it's time to edit and customize your dashboard with all your project details. * To **edit** the **Dashboard settings**, click on the **Gear icon** in the upper right hand corner of the Dashboard. A side panel window will pop-up on the right side of your screen to edit all the fields inside the Project. * Click on the **Arrows** to expand the editable fields, which are Address, Budget & Pricing, Square Footage, Milestones, and Column Settings. * While in the Dashboard settings, add **Milestone** dates that will then activate the Milestone widget at the bottom of your Dashboard. After you add a few milestones - like Kick Off Meeting, Order Ship Date, and Delivery & Install days - you can scroll horizontally on a timeline to compare those due dates to today. * Outside of Dashboard settings, click on the **Filter** button and the different **product view icons** to further control what is included in the **Product List** portion of your Dashboard. The Product List is located on the left-side of your Dashboard and is interactive. * You can edit the List columns under **Column Settings** in the Dashboard settings side panel. * Click the **Export Selection** button at the bottom of the Dashboard (when activated) to export your Dashboard. * You can choose to export this work into a PDF, JPEG, or PNG. * If you select to export to a **.CSV file,** a product list, with all the products' data, will be emailed to you directly. You have opened or created a **Canvas**, began designing with **Public Catalogs**, and added a **Dashboard** into your Canvas to better capture the scope and budget of your new project. When we first add a Dashboard into our Canvas, the Dashboard initially captures every single product that lives in that Canvas - product images, cards, and drawings. This article will show you how to edit and add details to the Dashboard and filter the Product List to show only product data you want included. ## Edit the Dashboard Settings: 1. Click on the **Gear icon** in the upper right hand corner of the **Dashboard**. A side panel window will pop-up on the right side of your screen to edit all the fields inside the Dashboard. Click the arrows to expand the sections. * Give your Dashboard a **name**. * Input the **address** of your project's location. The **Google Maps preview** will populate automatically. * Add in an overall budget, project **Discount** and project **Markup** **percentage**. Choose to hide or show the product subtotal here too. The budget per sf will populate automatically based off of this and the Plannable Area input. * Add in **Gross Area** (sq ft) * Add in **Plannable Area** (sq ft) - *Areas automatically calculate this number for you!* * Add **Milestone** dates that will then activate the Milestone widget at the bottom of your Dashboard. After you add a few milestones - like Kick Off Meeting, Order Ship Date, and Delivery & Install days - you can scroll horizontally on the timeline widget to compare those due dates to today. * **Column Settings** is where you choose which data fields appear in your Product List and set their order. 2. To **exit** the Dashboard Settings, simply click anywhere on the Canvas outside of the side panel. The settings side panel will **save** and **close** automatically.

As you input information into the Dashboard settings fields, the widgets on the window will automatically update and change.

## Edit the Product List: 1. Filter the Product List by selecting the **product type** icons in the upper left corner - Drawings, Images, and/or product Cards. 2. Click the **Filters** button to filter the list by **Areas, Category, Condition, Lead Time, Manufacturer, Vendor, and Tags.** 3. Need to edit the pricing? This is the place to do so. You can edit pricing directly inside the Product List by double clicking into the **Discount** and **Markup** fields per line item. This is great for creating ROM budgets! 1. Choose to show or hide the List Price, Sell Price, and/or Net Price in the column settings. {% hint style="info" %} Pro Tip: Choose to include **Areas** in the **Column Settings** of the Product List. ## How to design with Brand Storefronts & Community Canvases Each Brand Storefront has a public Canvas with their products and inspiration images. Some brands or designers in our community have created additional Canvases with designs featuring products from a brand. When you navigate to a brand's storefront, you can see if there are additional Canvases available.

* Click on **Launch Brand Canvas** or select a Canvas created by the community. * The Canvas will open up in a new tab or window. * Select the products or images that you're interested in, right-click and select **`Copy or ctrl+C` / `cmd+C.`** * Navigate to your Canvas dashboard, which is typically in another tab. Otherwise, click on the Canoa logo to be taken to your Canvas Dashboard. Start a new Canvas or open an existing Canvas. * Right-click on an area of your Canvas and select **Paste or `ctrl+V` / `cmd+V`** to paste the selected brand products into your Canvas. * Let the design fun begin! Incorporate these added products into your design. # How to design with second life products This article will explain second-life products and show you how to navigate our Public Catalogs to find and design with second-life products. Including second life furniture and products in your plans and design is important for our design community and good for the planet. Doing so contributes to a circular economy, promotes sustainability and extends the value and lifecycle of furniture. Our Public Catalogs feature products listed by resellers of second-hand, pre-owned and open box furniture and accessories. ## **What is second-life furniture?** There are many terms used to convey the condition of second-life or second-hand furniture and products. Here are some commonly used terms and what they mean: **Pre-owned, Used, Used without Box:** Items that have previously been in another environment or office. These products could have been used daily in workplaces and commercial environments, displayed in showrooms or kept in storage. Products are available as-is with existing finishes and fabrics. The wear & tear will vary on these products, and there often won't be a warranty. But, they still have a use-life left. These products typically require additional packaging when being shipped. These products are often extremely affordable solutions and allow you to quickly furnish your space. **Certified Pre-Owned:** Examined, re-conditioned and certified by the company that sells the product. These products often have limited finish options or are only avaiable in existing finishes only. But certified pre-owned products are a price-advantage solution, often 50-60% from purchasing new and have a new warranty by the company that sells the furniture. **Remanufactured:** These products are re-built or re-conditioned as needed by certified manufacturers. They can be re-built to your specification, which allows you to customize finishes and fabrics. They often have a new warranty by the company that sells the furniture and allow you to have a like-new, customizable solution but at 30-35% off of new. **Open-box:** items that have been ordered and displayed, installed or stored, but typically not heavily used. Products can often be overstock or discontinued inventory. They are typically in like-new or gently used condition and can often ship in their current packaging. ## **How to find second-life products on Canoa?** You can find second-life products a couple of different ways on our platform. ### **Searching through our Public Catalogs:** Click on the **Public Catalogs** feature in the top navigation bar to open up our products library. From there, click on [**Second Life**](https://www.canoa.supply/products/second-life) to filter for this product type. You can filter further by selecting Categories and Sub-Categories. ‍

### **When using Canvas:** * You can search through our second life products by clicking on the **My Catalog icon** in the bottom right corner of Canvas. Toggle to the **Public Catalogs** tab. You can enter a query in the search bar or select Brands that specialize in second life products, such as Reseat or Envirotech. * ***For Pro, Unlimited, and Custom users*****:** You can also click on **My Catalog** to show only products that you've added to your catalog. * Click the **Filter** button, and then expand the **Condition** field. Here you can find second-life products that fall into the New, Open Box, Like New, Remanufactured, Gently Used, Used, Pre-Owned, and My Inventory subcategories. * Double click the product if you are looking for more details like product names, dimensions, list price or carbon index. * Drag & drop the product image into you Canvas. * Want to see full product details? Right click on the product image and select **View Product Details** to open the product card.

# How to design with generic products This article will show you how to design and space plan with a collection of standard products that are available to all users. Within our Public Catalogs database of over 28,000 skus, we do offer a collection of standard products that you can design mood boards with and even use to layout floor plans and space plan with. This can be helpful when you just need a placeholder product in your furniture layout. Each product in the Canoa's Standards collection includes a name, image, basic sizing dimensions, and a scaled 2D drawing. These standards are great to design with as thought-starters for space planning. You can also use the Template [**CAD Library 1**](https://www.canoa.supply/templates/canoa-cad-library) to design with generic blocks. These 100+ products are not tied to extensive product data, and just call out the dimensions of the drawing for easy space planning use. We wanted to give designers a dedicated space to test fit and space plan when you are just trying to figure out the specification, and not be held back by a brand, product name, lead time, or price. ## How to view standard products: 1. Open the **Public Catalogs** feature in the navigation menu. 2. In the main search bar, type in **Canoa Standards**. (You can also search for Canoa Standards in the Brand drop-down field).

## How to design with standard products: 1. You can also search for this standard collection in **Canvas**. 2. Within a Canvas, click on the **`My Catalog`** icon to add a standard product. 3. Select the **Public Catalogs** tab. 4. Type in '**Canoa Standards'** to either the product **search ba**r or in the **Manufacturer filter**. 5. Bring in the standard product you want to design with by dragging and dropping it into the Canvas.

* Next to "Anyone with Link," toggle the drop down menu to **Can View**. * Click **Copy Link**. * Paste this link wherever you'd like to share it, like embedding your Canvas to a website, document or message. The public link allows for View-only access, so you don't have to worry that your Canvas will be edited.

You can also share your Canvas with specific people by entering in their emails. * Enter the email(s) of those you want to invite to your Canvas, and separate between emails with a comma. * Don't forget to set their permissions - an **Editor** has full access to collaborate and edit your Canvas, while a ***Viewer*** is view-only. * Click **Share**.

## **Sharing your Canvas from the Canvas Dashboard:** * In your Canvas Dashboard, hover over the Canvas you'd like to share. * Click on the **Share icon** OR select **Share** from the **3-dot menu**.

* The **Share Canvas window** will pop up and you can either enter the email(s) of those you want to invite to your Canvas. Add a comma between emails. Or, you can toggle the access permissions to **Can View** and then click **Copy Link** to share out. * Don't forget to set their permissions - an ***Editor*** has full access to collaborate and edit your Canvas, while a **Viewer** is view-only. * Click **Share**. {% hint style="info" %} Sharing is unlimited regardless of your account tier on Canoa. For example, if you have a free account, other users can share their Canvases with you and surpass the two Canvas limit set on free accounts. These would be 'View Only' Canvases. {% endhint %} # How to invite team members to collaborate This article will show you how to share your Canvas furniture presentation and mood boards with everyone on your design team for seamless collaboration.

Effortlessly welcome collaborators, commenters, or viewers directly into your design canvas, creating a shared space where you can focus on teamwork and spend less time dealing with email. This collaborative approach ensures that you can engage in productive interactions, brainstorm collectively, and accelerate the decision-making process. Because good design is never done alone. ## **Inviting team members to collaborate with you** Need to share your mood board with your client? Want to review your layout with your design colleagues? No gate keeping here! We have a couple of different ways to invite team members to view and collaborate on your designs. You can invite anyone to your Canvas - even someone who doesn't have an account on Canoa. ### Add additional Users to your Account: {% content-ref url="/pages/tgNS7LqzmO0uAxO5b5cP" %} [How to add and remove users from your account](/docs/support/managing-your-account/how-to-add-and-remove-users-from-your-account) {% endcontent-ref %} After adding users to your account, you can now share your Canvas by making it public to everyone in your account. * From the Canvas Dashboard, click the `three dots` of the Canvas thumbnail you'd like to share. * Where you see your account name, toggle to either Viewer or Editor access. * Your permissions have now been updated.

This shared Canvas will now appear in your teammates' Canvas Dashboard when they click on **Shared by My Team** the next time they sign in. ## **Sharing your Canvas within Canvas:** {% content-ref url="/pages/At6Ym5Wi8m2rdyqbqSqc" %} [How to share your Canvas](/docs/share/how-to-share-your-canvas) {% endcontent-ref %} # How to provide Comments This article will show you how adding comments and capturing notes directly in your Canvas furniture presentation and mood board is an effortless and efficient way to enhance collaboration. {% embed url="" %} What is collaboration with comments? It's more efficient to have all of your project notes and comments together in one document rather than having separate documents that you have to reference. ## Turning Comments On & Off The **Comments** or speech bubble icon is found on your Canvas toolbar. Click on the icon to turn the Comments feature on or off. When Comments are turned on, the icon will be purple and the Comments Window will pop up.

## Adding Comments to your Canvas * Place the purple speech bubble icon on the area(s) you'd like to leave your comment. When the icon is placed, a window will open up that allows you to input your comment. Hit **Post** after making your notes. * The comment you added will appear in the **Comments window** on the right side of your Canvas. * You can mention a user in your comment by typing the **@** symbol and then typing in the user's name. An email notification is sent when someone is mentioned in a Comment. {% hint style="info" %} If you mention @ someone who does not have access to your Canvas or a Canoa account, a popup will prompt you to **invite** that new user. {% endhint %}

The Comments window acts like a running list of edits or notes that you can keep track of. * Clicking on a Comment in the Comments window will fly to the area in the Canvas where the Comment lives.

## Editing or Deleting Comments * You can edit or delete a comment either from the Comments window or directly in a Comment. Click on the **3-dot menu** to **Edit**, **Delete** or mark your comment as **Resolved**.

## Resolved Comments * The **Resolved** tab shows a running log of resolved comments. In the **Resolved** tab, you can ***Edit***, **Delete** or **Re-open** comments as needed.

# How to use Presentation Mode This article will show you how to use the Play feature in Canvas that turns any series of Frames into a full-screen presentation on your desktop and to share out to your collaborators.

Presentations access all the information that is organized into [**Frames**](/docs/design/how-to-use-frames) on your Canvas. The Play feature allows you to create shareable private or public link to share with your team, client, or vendor. Creating a presentation inside your Canvas is a way helpful way to show a more curated and polished look of your work, leaving out the sometimes messy sandlots that live inside your infinite Canvas 😬. ## To play a full-screen presentation: 1. Open a [**Canvas**](https://www.canoa.supply/canvas) in your Canoa account. 2. Use **Frames** (`F` key) to create "slides" that bound the content you want to present together. 3. In the top right, click **`Play`**. 4. Here in the Presentation side panel, click the **checkboxes** of the Frames you'd like to include in, or hide from, your presentation. 5. **Arrange** the order of your Frames by dragging and dropping the three-dashed lines up and down. 1. Click the `download` icon to export your presentation to PDF, JPEG, PNG, DWG, or DXF if necessary. 6. Click the **`Play`** button to launch your presentation in a new browser window. 7. Use the **arrows** on your keyboard or at the bottom of the presentation to change slides. {% hint style="info" %} A best practice is renaming your Frames so they are more recognizable in the Presentation side panel. ## To share a link of your presentation:

1. Open up a Canvas, and in the top right corner, click **`Play`**. 2. Here in the Presentation side panel, click the **checkboxes** of the Frames you'd like to include in, or hide from, your presentation. 3. **Arrange** the order of your Frames by dragging and dropping the three-dashed lines up and down. 4. Click **`Create`** to create a view-only public presentation - meaning, whoever you share this link to will *not* be able to edit your presentation in any way. 5. Click **`Copy Link`**. 6. Send the link to your friends, family, clients, and team to share your presentation with them.

## To **download** the Product List to a .CSV file: 1. **Select** the Product List and click **Export Selection icon** at the bottom (as seen above). 2. In the Export window, **choose CSV** as the format in the drop down menu. 3. Select the **data fields** you wish to be included, and then click download. 4. A CSV file will be sent to your email within seconds. You can take that .CSV file and bring it into Excel, GoogleSheets, Airtable, or any spreadsheet program that you use. ## **What to do with your Product List:** The Product List emailed to you is a .csv file (CSV). A CSV, or comma-separated values file, is data saved in a table format and is one of the most common file types. It looks similar to a typical spreadsheet, but CSV files are plain-text or raw data. Since the file is raw data, you will need to import into another program that will allow you to add formatting and manipulate the data to your presentation needs. Choose your file size in the **Size** dropdown menu selection - 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3x. 6. Click **Download**. Your file will most likely download into your downloads folder on your computer.

# How to export or print your Canvas with Frames This article will show you how to use Frames to print, PDF, or export your Canvas presentation, images, mood boards and product lists for use in a variety of presentation programs. {% embed url="" %} You've used Canvas to create visuals like collages and vignettes, lay out your floor plan, and even put together a furniture specification presentation and furniture schedule. But now what? How do you get what you've created in your infinite Canvas mood board into a presentation template that you're using or print it out? ## Using a Frame to Export: * Click on your Frame and name your Frame. * With the Frame selected, click on the **Export Selection icon.**

* The Export window will pop-up. You'll have the option to select format and the image resolution size (the output image size will change accordingly). * **Size:** Relates to resolution. The higher the size selection, the larger the exported file will be. * **Format:** You can export anything in a Frame as a PDF, JPEG, PNG (with or without a transparent background), DWG, and DXF file. * Click **Download.**

### Exporting multiple Frames together to one file: Want to create a multi-page PDF? Select any number of Frames - in the order you want them to export in the file - and then follow the same exporting steps listed above. You will then have created a PDF (or any file type) with your Frames as pages in one file. ### Exporting a PNG: When you select PNG as your export format, you can choose for your exported Frame to have a transparent background or not. The default background will be white.

### Using your exported Frame: If you export your Frame as a JPEG or PNG, then you can import, embed or attach into any presentation program (such as Google Slides, Microsoft Powerpoint, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, Figma, etc.) as a typical image file. Export your Frame as a PDF to send as an attachment in emails to clients. It's so easy to create all sorts of marketing and sales materials thanks to the ease of exporting Frames out of Canvas and into your Downloads folder. Embedding is a great way to share information in a visually pleasing way outside of Canoa. ## Two ways to Embed a Canvas: ### While in your Canvas: * Click on the **`Invite+`** icon in the upper right hand corner. * At the bottom of the pop-up window, you'll see the **`Copy Embed`** button. * Clicking this will automatically copy an embed **code** to use in many outside tools, like Notion, Squarespace, and Webflow to name a few. {% hint style="info" %} ***Pro Tip:*** If the `Copy Embed` button is not highlighted, make sure your Canvas in is **Can View** mode. ### Copying the Canvas's URL: A second way to embed a Canvas into a third-party platform is by copying and pasting the Canvas's URL. {% hint style="info" %} ***Pro Tip:*** take note of the view of your Canvas before copying the link. Position the Canvas exactly how you want the view of the embed to look on your own site. *Then* copy the URL. {% endhint %} * This exact position is noted in the URL by the **x, y, width, and height axises** underlined below in **red**. * Your Canvas must be in **Preview** mode. Paste the URL of your Canvas after clicking Link. Your Canvas will then appear in view.

If the view of your Canvas on Squarespace is not to your liking, you can edit the view of the Canvas window within the **Embed data** button, show below.

If you are a Canoa user (Admin or Member) in **multiple accounts** you have the ability to **Share** products and their data between the accounts that you are a part of. This is true for any products you have collected from the [**Public Catalogs**](https://help.canoa.supply/docs/share/www.canoa.supply/products) as well as all custom products you've created. Whenever products are shared to other accounts, they will live in **My Catalog (Gallery)** of that receiving account and while some products cannot be edited, they can be removed from My Catalog by the receiving account at anytime. ## Sharing from **My Catalog - Gallery:** This is a great way for sharing products from the **Public Catalogs** and a small number of custom products. * Open [**My Catalog**](https://www.canoa.supply/catalog)**.** And choose the **Gallery** view in the upper navigation bar. * Select all products you wish to share by checking them off**.** * Click the **Share** button in the upper right corner.

* Select the account you would like to **Share** your products with in the dropdown menu of accounts.

You will then see a window pop up at the bottom of your screen to let you know that it's working on downloading the **CSV** file to your computer. (It may take a few seconds). 5. Open your **CSV** file in your preferred spreadsheet program, like **Excel, GoogleSheets, or Airtable**, to edit and manipulate however you'd like.
