Working with Templates

Need some inspiration or somewhere to start your design? Pre-existing templates were designed for you to copy and make your own.

What are Templates?

Templates are pre-made frameworks created in Canvas that you can use as a jumping off point for your own design presentations. They show you how to organize your Canvas and feature Products from our library, inspiration images or renderings, a layout or floorplan, and designs by members of our community (aka Community Canvases). So if you're looking for a Furniture Presentation Template or to design a Chill but Sophisticated Lounge, working from Templates or Community Canvases may just be the thing to get you started.

Start a Canvas from a Template:

  • Go to the Canvas tab on the left-side Navigation Bar.

  • Click + New Canvas, and a Create New window will pop up.

  • Choose Browse Templates, and pick one of eight Templates that works best for you.

  • This Canvas, created from a Template, is now yours. Rename your Canvas that is recognizable to you. No need to save anything - this Canvas will always be accessible to you whenever you open the Canvas tab.

Types of Templates to start a Canvas with:

  • Canvas Basics

  • Concept Design

  • Design Development

  • Interior Design Mood Board

  • Product Specification Sheet

  • Request for Proposal (RFP)

  • Schematic Design

  • Space Planning Kits

Using a Presentation Template:

  • Use one of our Presentation Templates when you need a framework for your Canvas (this Furniture Presentation Template is a fave!)

  • Go to our Templates page, pick a Template and click the Launch Canvas button

  • You'll be taken to the presentation template page, which features a description and details on the selected template. Click on Launch Canvas to open up the template Canvas.

  • Select all of the frames and right-click Copy (or ctrl+C / cmd+C) the frames.

  • Open up your own Canvas board and ctrl+V / cmd+V or right-click and select Paste to add the Template into your Canvas board.

  • Follow the step-by-step details to turn the template into your own presentation.

Adding a Community Canvas to your own Canvas:

  • Go to our Community page, pick a Template and click Launch Template.

  • You'll be taken to that design's template page, which features a description and product list. Click on Launch Canvas to open up the template Canvas.

  • Select the items you'd like to copy into your own Canvas and either ctrl+C / cmd+C or right-click and select Copy.

  • Open up your own Canvas board and ctrl+V / cmd+V or right-click and select Paste to add the Template into your Canvas board.

  • Start designing!

If you are unable to create a new Canvas from Templates, you may have reached your limit on the number of Canvases allowed to your account. View the Team Management page to adjust your plan's subscription.
