# Begin with a Template ## What are Templates? Templates are pre-made Canvases created as a jumping off point for your own design processes like mood boarding, space planning, and presenting. They are guides on how to organize your Canvas and feature Products from our library, inspiration images or renderings, a layout or floor plan, and designs by members of our community. So if you're looking for a [**Furniture Presentation Template**](https://www.canoa.supply/templates/furniture-presentation-template) or want to design like a Canoa influencer, working from Templates may just be the thing to get you started. ## Start a new Canvas from a Template: 1. Go to the **Canvas** tab on the drop down Navigation Menu in the upper left. 2. Click **`+ New Canvas`**, and a Create New window will pop up. 3. Choose **`Browse Templates`**, and pick one of eight Templates that works best for you. 4. This Canvas, created from a Template, is now yours. **Rename** your Canvas that is recognizable to you. No need to save anything - this Canvas will always be accessible to you whenever you open the Canvas tab.

## Bring a Template into an existing Canvas: There's no need to start from scratch. You can add Templates into your existing Canvases any time. 1. Open one of your Canvases. 2. Click on the `My Catalog icon` in the lower right corner of your Canvas. 3. Select `Templates` from the top of the pop up window. 4. Browse through the Templates and simply drag and drop one anywhere in your Canvas. {% hint style="info" %} A bunch of elements and Frames will appear now. Keep what you want and simply delete the rest by highlighting what you don't want! Once you've added a Template, all you need to do is full it in with your inspiration and products. {% endhint %}

### Types of Templates to start a Canvas with: * Product Specification (Brand Spotlight) * CAD Library * Concept Design * Design Development * Schematic Design * Space Planning * ROM Budget ## Using a Community Template: * Utilize one of our Community Templates when you want to design like a professional interior designer. * Go to our [**Templates**](https://www.canoa.supply/templates) page on our website, pick a Template, and click the **Launch Canvas** button. * *Quickly go to the Template page while you're signed into the app by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner of the navigation bar.*

* You'll be taken to the presentation template page, which features a description and details on the selected template. Click on **`Launch Canvas`** to open up the template Canvas. * Select all of the frames and **right-click Copy** (or `ctrl+C / cmd+C`) the frames. * Open up your own Canvas board and `ctrl+V / cmd+V` or right-click and select **Paste** to add the Template into your Canvas board. * Follow the step-by-step details to turn the template into your own presentation.
