Working with Material Bank

In this article, you will learn how to easily export product data from Material Bank and import as products in Canoa.

Step 1: Launch Material Bank

  • Open a Board in Material Bank.

  • Select the products and data fields you wish to bring into Canoa by selecting Customize Export .

Step 2: Export Data

  • Select Export.

  • Select Download CSV file

  • The CSV should be saved to your downloads or folder of choice.

Optional* Step 3: Open a spreadsheet program to format your data

  • Open the exported CSV in Excel, GoogleSheets, Airtable or your preferred spreadsheet program to update fields to match Canoa’s format.

  • Refer to the Product Data Template for approved fields and update before importing into Canoa.

Step 4: Launch Canoa to import your product data

  • Open a Canvas (shown below) or Catalog Pro.

  • Upload the CSV file into Canvas or Catalog Pro.

  • Match the fields in the CSV from Material Bank with the Canoa provided fields.

  • Once imported, you will be prompted to add the product cards to Canvas.

  • The products will be automatically saved to your Catalog for use time and time again.

How to use your newly collected products in Canvas:

  • Add additional product information, images and 2D drawings by right-clicking and choosing View Product Details.

  • Search for similar and complementary products with the AI Recommendations icon in the bottom left corner of your Canvas.

Click on a product to activate Canoa AI on left side. Right click to edit product details on right side.
  • Toggle between the product card view and image view when the product is selected.

  • Use all of Canoa’s design tools to start creating your mood board, layout, or presentation.
