Learn how to import floor plans, add product drawings, and layout your space plan quickly and easily, all in your Canvas white board.

Step 1: Open the Canvas for this Training

This "Training Canvas" is in Preview/Viewer mode to all users - If you’d like to edit this Canvas, duplicate the Canvas and edit the duplicated version.

• Use the Training Canvas to follow along as you learn how to import floor plans and add products and their 2D vector drawings to your Canvas to then layout your furniture and space plan to perfection.

• Helpful Tip: Have access to multiple tabs and/or screens? Make the most of your training session with Canoa University open on one monitor (referring to the Syllabus with helpful articles and the Training Checklist), and the Training Canvas open on the other.

• Uploading a Floor Plan

Step 3: Training Check List

Make sure you've hit all of the important topics by checking off this list.

• Upload your Floor Plan

  • Convert a PDF floor plan to an image file (JPEG or PNG) & Import the image plan into your Canvas

  • Precisely Scale the floor plan to make sure it is to scale

  • Import a DWG floor plan into your Canvas (Note: In CAD, make sure to hide any layers that you don't want to work with)

  • Measure the floor plan to make sure it is to scale

• Add products to your Canvas to begin space planning

  • Use the Canoa AI tool

  • Copy paste a vignette from our Canoa Products Library

  • Toggle to the drawing view of your products

• Drag your product drawings into the floor plan

• Use Distribute and Align to space plan evenly with the product drawings

• Group together multiple product drawings

• Duplicate grouped drawings

• Create several Areas in your floor plan

  • Change the fill color

  • Name your Areas

• Export your work by using a Frame

  • Export the full floor plan as a DWG and open up your DWG in AutoCAD

  • Place a Frame around a portion of your floor plan and export that portion as an image file. Use that image file in a presentation.

• Use a dimensioned rectangle to quickly space plan a room or area
