How to add Text

This article explains how to add text in your Canvas mood board and design presentations.

Adding text to your design presentation

Canvas Toolbar

• From your Canvas dashboard, either select one of your Canvas boards or click on + New Canvas.

• At the top is your toolbar is where you can access main functions quickly.

• Click on the Text icon and it will turn purple when activated.

Adding Text to your Canvas

• Click on the area of your Canvas where you'd like to place your text box.

• A blank, purple text box will appear where you can input your text.

• The text box grows according to how your text is justified.

• The text options menu will appear below. To make changes to a narrowed selection of text, make sure to highlight (select) the text and then chose the options.

• Available options include:

  • Bold

  • Italic

  • Underline

  • Bulleted List

  • Numbered List

  • Text Justification Types: Left-Aligned, Centered, Right-Aligned

  • Text Color:

  

  Click the color circle to choose a text color. Click the Plus icon to chose a custom color.

  • Text Background Color:

  

  Click the Paint Bucket to choose a background color. Click the Plus icon to chose a custom color.

  • Text Size:

    • Choose from four set sizes: Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large.

    • Or, input a custom font size in the open text box. Literally input any number!

  

  Click Text Size to edit and input a custom size.

  • Fonts:

    • Choose from over 500 font types. Canoa hosts the Google Font catalog on Canvas.

    • Go to the far right font box, click it, and either type in the search or scroll through for the font you'd like to apply to your text.

  

  Click Font type to choose from 200 fonts.

Editing Text

To edit your text, double-click on the text. A purple activation box will appear around your text and the text options toolbar will pop up.

You can use the Tab key and the space bar inside the text box for more formatting customizability.

Resize the Text Box

Your text box can be resized by hovering at either side of the text box and dragging the sides to the left and right. The minimum size of the text box will always fit the content.

Drag the sides of the text box itself to resize it.

Rotating Text

Your text box can be rotated. Please note that rotating the text box does not change the orientation of the text itself.

• Click on your text and the purple activation box will appear around your text.

• Hover at a corner of the text box until the rotate arrow appears.

• Hold your left mouse key to rotate the text box. As you rotate, the rotation angle will appear to help guide you.
